Yangpohang Jinju Pyeonggeo Branch is a restaurant on Saedeulmal-ro in Pyeonggeo-dong, Jinju, that specializes in agu-jjim (braised spicy anglerfish), agu bulgogi (fire-grilled anglerfish in sweet-spicy sauce) and agu-tang (anglerfish soup). The writer ordered fire-grilled agu bulgogi to go with one extra serving of udon noodles and shared it at home with their mother, along with the hot agu-tang that came with the order. The portion was big enough to leave leftovers after feeding the whole family, and even the writer's mother, who had said she had no appetite, ate well.

The Jeongjitgan lunch special, the rolled daepae set (롤대패정식), costs 9,900 won and comes with rolled thin-sliced pork, rice and doenjang (soybean paste) stew; the thick pork slices, generous stew and self-serve side dishes were all satisfying. A newlywed couple went to Jeongjitgan for an after-work date and ordered 2 servings of pork belly, 1 serving of pork jowl and doenjang sulbap (soybean paste stew with rice simmered in) together from the start. Both enjoyed the charcoal-scented meat and the rich doenjang sulbap. Verdict: at Jeongjitgan, the doenjang sulbap is a must-order alongside the meat.
