Stomach-friendly shabu-shabu for one at Hapjeong Station: Nahonsha
In short
Nahonsha (나혼샤) is a solo shabu-shabu and sukiyaki restaurant on the main road between Hapjeong Station and Sangsu Station in Mapo, Seoul. With a slightly upset stomach, the writer ate alone at a window seat at Nahonsha, ordering the clear broth shabu (14,900 won) with extra vegetables (3,500 won) and a Kirin draft beer, and left full after fresh vegetables, a cool, clean broth and a broth refill. Nahonsha suits solo diners who want a vegetable-heavy meal that is easy on the stomach.

Where is Nahonsha near Hapjeong Station, and what kind of restaurant is it?

Nahonsha is a shabu-shabu restaurant that's great for eating alone, on the main road between Hapjeong Station and Sangsu Station. The atmosphere is nice too, so it's a pleasant place to have a meal.

Nahonsha only opened recently! The outdoor area before the entrance is landscaped so prettily. At first I thought it was a café, but it's actually a shabu-shabu restaurant.

The menu at Nahonsha. Besides shabu-shabu, there's also sukiyaki. I can't think of a better food to eat alone than sukiyaki, yet there are surprisingly few places with a menu built for one person, so I'm glad this one opened.

The path to the entrance is decorated beautifully too. A lovely place for a meal.

From in front of Nahonsha, you can see Hapjeong's Mecenatpolis far in the distance.

Nahonsha's interior and solo window seats

The interior of Nahonsha feels quite upscale and leafy green. A nice place to eat and leave in a good mood.

The vibe works both for eating alone and for coming with a group.
I took a window seat. The landscaping in front of the building is so pretty that it's a healing spot.
There's a long row of single seats, and they're spaced widely, so you can eat comfortably and take your time. Once I sat down, the broth pot was brought out first.

There's sweet chili, peanut sauce and soy sauce... and the barley tea comes in a pretty bottle.
Nahonsha shabu-shabu menu and prices
At Nahonsha I chose the clear broth shabu for ₩14,900. Besides clear broth, there are spicy broth, miso shabu, tomato broth shabu and mala shabu, and the solo sukiyaki is ₩16,900 and the solo special sukiyaki is ₩19,900.
Of the extra toppings, I added vegetables. A great add-on for getting plenty of fiber. There are lots of other toppings too.
I thought about having the self-serve porridge (juk) at the end, but I was too full.

I ordered a glass of Kirin draft beer too.

Minced garlic and Cheongyang chili (a spicy Korean green chili) are given if you ask separately. I asked for a ladle and scissors. They seem essential.

Is Nahonsha's clear broth shabu easy on the stomach?
Nahonsha's clear broth shabu was easy on the stomach: the vegetables were fresh and the broth was cool-tasting and clean. The reason I love shabu-shabu is that afterward my stomach feels settled, and I can physically feel that I've eaten something healthy. So when my gut is slightly off, I consciously go looking for shabu-shabu. Just lightly blanching lots of vegetables and mushrooms counts as health care.
The vegetables are fresh, so this seems like a place that handles its ingredients well.
The beef seems like enough as it is. I didn't come to eat beef so much as to blanch lots of different vegetables in the shabu-shabu, so beef only for flavoring the broth would be fine, and this amount is more than plenty. So I didn't add more beef.
The extra vegetables I added came out too. Bean sprouts, napa cabbage and the rest, every one of them fresh. I put in the vegetables and beef. A small portion of noodles also comes by default. Good for finishing the meal.

The broth is truly cool-tasting and clean.

Is Nahonsha's shabu-shabu for one filling enough?
The solo shabu-shabu at Nahonsha was more than I expected, so I couldn't get to the self-serve porridge. I added more vegetables and mushrooms and asked for another round of broth, and now I'm stuffed... I overate, but with shabu-shabu, my stomach feels fine again after a little while.

Good atmosphere, fresh ingredients, and the feeling of having eaten something healthy and good.

With the noodles to finish, the portion was quite substantial! I recommend Nahonsha, the solo shabu-shabu spot by Hapjeong Station, to anyone who wants a proper meal made with good ingredients.
