Where is Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel Direct Store near Bongcheon Station?
Jangsuchon Pungcheon Eel Direct Store (장수촌풍천장어직판장) Bongcheon Station branch is an eel restaurant in Bongcheon-dong, a 1-minute walk from Exit 5 of Bongcheon Station. It's at 382 Bongcheon-ro, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and open daily 10:30–21:30.

Not Danggok Station ❌ Bongcheon Station ⭕️ There are 2 Jangsuchon branches in Bongcheon-dong, and the one I visited is the one at Bongcheon Station!! There's parking in front of the restaurant, so it's convenient if you come by car.

Is Jangsuchon good for group dinners in Bongcheon?
The Bongcheon Station branch uses both the 1st and 2nd floors, so it's big and has group seating. If you're looking for a group restaurant in Bongcheon-dong, I highly recommend this place!
There's plenty of space for a family dinner or group gathering, and the mood is neither too heavy nor too light, so it was perfect for chatting. I recommend booking a group reservation in advance :)

Another reason I recommend it for groups: the staff grill all the eel for you, so we could focus on eating and talking~ Grilling eel is tricky, right? 😭

Menu prices and the ₩3,000 table setting fee
The menu has a good range of meals besides eel. There are lots of dishes to add if you still feel a little hungry after the eel, so it seems easy to have a full meal here, haha.

The table setting fee is ₩3,000 per person, because the basic side dishes come in such a wide variety!! The ₩3,000 wasn't a waste at all, haha.

If you run out of side dishes, just grab more from the self-serve bar :)

How was the 1.5kg salt-grilled eel for three?
The three of us ordered the salt-grilled eel, 1.5kg (₩89,000). Eel tastes best grilled over charcoal, right? The exciting charcoal arrives! In one corner of the restaurant you can even see a staff member firing up the charcoal.

Outside the restaurant there's an eel tank full of eels, and they looked totally lively and fresh, which raised my expectations. I took a photo but it felt kind of creepy so I didn't post it,, haha.
Jangsuchon serves only 100% domestic eel and keeps certificates of origin in the restaurant, so I could eat with confidence bb

The staff sprinkle on purple salt made with Gochang bokbunja (black raspberry), then grill it deliciously from start to finish 👏

The eel turns golden brown~ The skin was wonderfully chewy and the flesh so tender. So good.
They also grill rice cake (tteok) on top of the cooked eel, and said they'd bring more if we asked. I wanted more but was too full, so I passed,, 😭 The slightly golden-crusted look made my mouth water,,, I want to eat it again,,

Perilla leaf with eel sauce + ginger strips, the classic stamina-boosting combo~ It's healthy and tasty, and personally I think those three together are the best combination, haha.

Eel soup, review-event shrimp and eel juice: what comes with the meal?
At Jangsuchon near Bongcheon Station, you even get an extra eel soup per person. The soup has eel and loach in it, so it's richer than chueotang (loach soup), and mixing in a bowl of rice made it a hearty, perfect meal in no time.

The shrimp from the review event..!! Normally the review event gives 5 shrimp, but for the 3 of us they gave 6 so we could share 2 each. Such a thoughtful touch, I was so moved.

After the meal, they gave each of us an eel juice to restore our energy! A perfect course, haha. Even the water isn't plain water but yeokwanmun (angelica) tea,, :)

The restroom is inside on the 2nd floor, with separate men's and women's rooms.
Verdict: is Jangsuchon a good group eel restaurant in Bongcheon?
At Jangsuchon Bongcheon Station branch, it was a perfect meal: starting with yeokwanmun tea, then eel, eel soup, and finishing with eel juice. The staff were all friendly, and since they grill the eel from start to finish, you can enjoy it without a worry, haha.
With group seating available, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a group restaurant in Bongcheon-dong!! 100% I'll be back.
