Gangnam rooftop café, lemon Earl Grey cookie: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee (썸띵어바웃커피) is a three-floor dessert café on Gangnam-daero 102-gil, between Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon stations in Gangnam, Seoul, with an outdoor terrace and rooftop. The blogger ordered a Mont Blanc cheesecake, a lemon Earl Grey cookie, a matcha cream cold brew and an iced Americano: the Mont Blanc's chestnut cream and the lemon cream inside the levain-style cookie stood out, while the Americano was light and mild. Something About Coffee is a good Gangnam Station café for friends or a date when you want handmade desserts with a terrace setting.

On days when I want to slow down with something sweet, I headed to Something About Coffee (썸띵어바웃커피), a Gangnam Station café known as a dessert paradise with great atmosphere. The dessert lineup is flashy and each floor is said to be pretty, so my expectations were pretty high before I even got there.

What is the vibe on each floor of Something About Coffee?
The first floor is calm, with vintage-but-warm interiors, soft lighting and wood-toned furniture. This was the first thing I noticed when I opened the door, and it looked like a great place to stay and chat quietly.

Go up the central staircase to the second floor and you get the counter plus an eye-catching dessert showcase. As a Gangnam café that uses all three floors, the seating is roomy and comfortable, which I loved. The bright chandelier and natural light through the windows made the whole place feel even brighter and more stylish.

Dessert showcase lineup at Something About Coffee
The second-floor showcase was filled with handmade cakes like Mont Blanc cheesecake, black sesame fig, yellow cheese and pistachio. The cakes were neatly arranged and visually striking, a lineup no dessert lover could just walk past. The Mont Blanc cheesecake in particular felt very seasonal.

On the bakery table right next to the showcase, baked goods like cookies, madeleines, financiers and scones were displayed hygienically in dome cases.

Outdoor terrace and rooftop in central Gangnam
Another big draw of Something About Coffee is the outdoor terrace and rooftop, where you can feel some freshness in the middle of the city. Green potted plants, warm sunshine and mood lighting made it feel like I had escaped the busy downtown. With the cool weather these days, it was a perfect healing spot to sit in the breeze.

How do the Mont Blanc cheesecake and lemon Earl Grey cookie taste?
We ordered the Mont Blanc cheesecake and lemon Earl Grey cookie that caught our eye in the showcase, plus a matcha cream cold brew and an iced Americano. Everything came out neatly on antique plates and pretty glasses, so cute that I reached for my camera before eating.
Mont Blanc cheesecake
The Mont Blanc cheesecake was topped with a big candied chestnut (bonnae-bam) and plenty of soft, textured chestnut cream. Nutty and smooth in perfect harmony, I could not stop my fork.

Lemon Earl Grey cookie
The lemon Earl Grey cookie was levain-style: firm outside, hefty yet moist inside. The moment I bit into the dough, a gentle Earl Grey tea-leaf fragrance spread, and then the tangy-sweet lemon cream filling in the middle burst out. So charming!
The lemon freshness lightened a baked treat that could have felt heavy, so I enjoyed it without getting tired of it.

Matcha cream cold brew vs. iced Americano
The matcha cream cold brew is perfect for anyone who loves matcha's deep character. The bittersweet matcha cream comes in smoothly first, followed by clean cold brew coffee, so the balance was good. The look of the layers slowly mixing was also really attractive.

The iced Americano was neither acidic nor nutty in any one direction; both notes were faint and plain. It leaned light and mild rather than bold or heavy, so it was easy to drink with no strong likes or dislikes. It was fine as something to tidy up the palate after sweet desserts.

Who is Something About Coffee for?
With a spacious three-floor layout, cozy seating and a fresh terrace feel, Something About Coffee is a Gangnam café I recommend for meetups with friends or a date. It is open daily 11:00-22:30.
🌱 My shy one-line review: Fragrant, sweet handmade desserts and a romantic terrace made this a lovely place to rest!
