Bucheon Station monkfish restaurant, stew & shabu-shabu set: Haemul

I was recently looking for a good place near Bucheon Station for a nice dinner with my mom, and ended up at Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch (해물특별시 부천역본점; the original post wrote it as 아구특별시 부천역점)! I like monkfish stew (agujjim) in general, so I went in with high hopes, and the meal beat them. Let me tell you about it 😊

Is Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch a good atmosphere for parents?

It's close to Bucheon Station so it's easy to reach, and the space is large and clean, so it looked like a good spot for a family meal or a group gathering.

We were looking for somewhere comfortable to eat with my mom, and I liked that it wasn't noisy and felt pleasant.

As soon as we sat down, the smell of spicy sauce drifted over and my appetite kicked in already. Before the stew came out, the side dishes were neatly laid out, and everything arrived looking tidy, so the first impression was great.

It's near Bucheon Station, so access is easy, and the restaurant is big and clean, a good atmosphere for family meals or gatherings. We wanted a relaxed place to eat with my mom, and with the wide spacing between tables it was comfortable and pleasant.

As the name says, the mini monkfish stew & shabu set lets you enjoy monkfish stew and shabu-shabu (hot pot) in one meal. It's what we ordered, and I was excited from the start. If you like trying a bit of everything, this set will really satisfy you.

Mini monkfish stew: savory sauce that isn't too spicy

The mini stew that came out first was more generous than it looked, packed with plump monkfish and crunchy bean sprouts. The sauce isn't too spicy and keeps a savory depth, so it was easy to eat. The monkfish was tender yet chewy, and tasted better the more I chewed.

Shabu-shabu: a clean broth that tames the spice

The shabu-shabu served alongside had its own charm. Cooking fresh vegetables and meat in the clean broth calmed the spiciness of the stew and balanced it perfectly. The vegetables were fresh and the broth so clean that I kept spooning it up ✨

My mom kept eating too, saying the stew sauce was delicious. It made you crave rice. Eaten with the bean sprouts, the texture was great and the sauce blended well, so we enjoyed it down to the last bite.

Monkfish stew alone can be a little intense, but with shabu-shabu on the side we didn't get tired of it and could enjoy different flavors. It's filling as a meal, and I thought it was a good choice to bring parents.

Is it good for a dinner with mom, a family meal or a group?

While eating at Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch, my mom and I chatted about all sorts of things, and the good food made the mood even better.

It seemed good for family meals, and also for a drink with friends. Around us there were plenty of families and groups too.

The staff were kind, and the food came out neatly, so we finished the meal in a good mood. The clean atmosphere, the generous portions and the taste all satisfied me, so I'd definitely go back!

How was the fried rice to finish?

Rice fried in the stew sauce was nutty and spicy with a savory depth, and really delicious. It came stir-fried with seaweed flakes for extra flavor, and the crispy browned bits on the bottom were so good, haha. Even though we kept saying we were full, my mom and I kept scooping it up.
