Euljiro Western restaurant with roomy tables and a welcome card: Pyu

This is my review of <Pyu Euljiro>, a rare spot in market-crowded weekend Euljiro where you can eat in a quiet atmosphere. I'd recommend it for meetups where conversation matters, and for blind dates.

Where is Pyu Euljiro?

Pyu Euljiro is very close to Euljiro 3-ga Station. That said, the stations in Euljiro are so close together that it's easy to get to from whichever one you get off at.

Pyu Euljiro is on the ground floor of a building, so it was easy to find. The clean, modern exterior suits a get-together, and it feels proper enough for a blind date or an anniversary too.

But the inside of Pyu Euljiro is even prettier. The ceilings are high, and why is the interior done so well?! It's not old-fashioned but feels upscale, and still works for casual get-togethers.

The mix of lighting, curtains and plants is lovely. It feels cozy and comfortable.

The interior was so pretty that I took more photos. We went early so it was quiet, but once mealtime came it filled up with reservation guests right away!

Why Pyu Euljiro works as a blind date spot in Euljiro

The table spacing at Pyu Euljiro is a perfect 100 points. There's a reason it's known as a blind date spot in Euljiro. You can have even awkward conversations (?) without worrying about the people around you.

Certain areas are partitioned off like this, so they felt as comfortable and separate as a private room. Overall, the table spacing was so good. When I go to a restaurant where tables are packed tightly together, I can't focus on the conversation and end up leaving as if I'm being chased out, so these small touches felt really thoughtful.

There's also a long table that seats a big group. The chairs were so comfortable that sitting for a long time was fine.

I reserved at Pyu Euljiro and found a message card on the table. What thoughtfulness! I read it while waiting for my companion, and you could feel the care in it.

Welcome, [ ]. You've worked so hard, running breathlessly through a dense forest of buildings and complicated relationships. Phew is the place where you can finally let out the breath you've been holding in, as comfortably as possible. Just as wine needs time to breathe to release its aroma, those of us who've spent an intense day need time to catch our breath too. So the name means "breathe out with a phew~ and rest a while"? What a sweet, adorable name.

The yuzu grilled chicken thigh marked with ⭐️ is my strong recommendation! It was so refreshing and the meat was tender. A main dish that's delicious without feeling heavy.

Do you have to order alcohol at dinner at Pyu Euljiro?

Like most restaurants in Euljiro, Pyu Euljiro requires one alcoholic drink per person at dinner. Pyu has non-alcoholic options, distinctive beers, and a wide range of wines. I wanted the beer called Cheongdam Daughter-in-law (because of the name) hahaha, but it was sold out, so I had something else. Bummer.

How do Pyu Euljiro's truffle mushroom risotto and yuzu chicken thigh taste?

Truffle mushroom risotto, ₩26,000

The truffle mushroom risotto at Pyu Euljiro was a really popular, cream-based risotto that anyone would like. The truffle flavor wasn't too strong, just right, and the saltiness was moderate, so it was well balanced. Pyu's food in general isn't very salty, so it feels easy to eat.

Yuzu grilled chicken thigh, ₩21,000

Personally, I thought the yuzu grilled chicken thigh was a really good choice. Being chicken thigh, it's so tender and springy, while the sauce is refreshing and fresh. Kind of like a meat-based ceviche?

I was sad it was ending, so I took a photo of the food when it was almost finished hahaha. So delicious....

Craft beer at Pyu Euljiro: why the cans were a plus

The beer I ordered at Pyu Euljiro came in a can, and the good thing about that is that I don't drink much, so I could keep the can unopened and take it home. The can is super pretty too.

A beer named Neomsabyeok ("out of this world"). These aren't common beers; there's a variety of craft beers, so picking one is quietly fun.

Pyu Euljiro: final verdict

Pyu Euljiro is a place where I couldn't really name a drawback. The atmosphere, service, size and location were all good. If you're looking for a restaurant in Euljiro that's good for talking, whether for a date, a blind date or a wine night, <Pyu Euljiro> seems like a satisfying choice!
