Brunch restaurant in Musil-dong, Wonju: ₩69,000 set for 3 at Yolk

Today's the day we're heading to Gangneung haha. It was the start of Chuseok holiday so traffic on the way to Gangneung was brutal, and we decided to eat in Wonju before setting off again. Since we'd left early in the morning, I looked up brunch restaurants in Wonju and found Yolk Wonju Musil. So many reviews said the staff were kind and the food was delicious, so I visited without much worry!

How to get there and where to park

Yolk, a Musil-dong restaurant in Wonju, is about a 5-minute walk from Wonju City Hall haha. There's a free public parking lot right next to the store, so those visiting by car can park easily. There's also a paid NICE parking lot behind the building — parking there gives you 2 hours free, so that works fine too!

Inside Yolk Wonju Musil: exterior and seating

Yolk has been around since 2013 — not sure if they relocated at some point, but the building has such a pretty exterior haha.

Stepping inside, the interior felt like a mix of a pretty café and a restaurant! Lots of people were sitting on the 2nd floor, but the sunlight coming into the 1st floor was so nice we grabbed a spot there.

The tables are spacious and the whole place has a lot of atmosphere, so I thought it'd be great for family gatherings or dates haha. Would be nice for Wonju City Hall staff to enjoy here for events too!

There's a self-serve station in the middle of the restaurant with utensils and water, so you just grab what you need. They're also running a review event, so if you want to get a dessert, it might be worth joining!

What the 69,000 won 3-person Set includes

Since there were 3 of us, we ordered the great-value 3-person Set. You could choose 1 salad and 3 main dishes, plus 3 free drinks were included — such good value.

After ordering, bread and honey came out first, along with jalapeños and pickles, which helped cut through the richness typical of Western food.

Cajun chicken salad

The first dish we tried was the Cajun chicken salad haha. With 3 more main dishes coming, I wanted something light, so I ordered Cajun chicken instead of beef,

and it was refreshing and light — perfect as a starter, and also great to nibble between mains to cleanse the palate!

Original double patty burger

Next up was the original double patty burger haha. I was debating filling up on pasta and rice dishes, but the burger looked so good in reviews that I ordered it — and wow.

Fries and salad came with it too, so I felt this would be plenty even ordered as a standalone item, not just part of the set haha.

The patty was packed with juice, so a savory burst hit the moment I bit in — honestly one of the best burgers I've had recently.

Mushroom risotto

Next was the mushroom risotto haha. Well-grilled mushrooms sat on top, giving off a mushroom aroma that really got the mouth watering!

The risotto had a slightly thick texture but was soft, so it went down easy, and every bite released a subtle mushroom aroma that made eating it feel really satisfying.

Spicy beef rosé pasta

Last up was the spicy beef rosé pasta! I ordered this thinking the earlier dishes might get a little heavy,

and I figured rosé pasta wouldn't be too spicy, but it had more of a kick than expected, which made it a great match with the burger and risotto. Plus the beef chunks were generous, so I could taste both spicy and savory flavors at once! If I hadn't had to drive to Gangneung, I would've ordered wine with this too — almost a shame I came by car.

The 3 drinks that come with the set

We could also choose our drinks — we picked 1 apple juice and 2 zero-sugar colas.

They were all drinks that pair well with Western food, great for cleansing the palate haha, and since they were included in the set, it was satisfying not having to order extra.

Verdict: is Yolk worth it for brunch and pasta in Wonju?

Yolk Wonju Musil, a Wonju brunch spot we stumbled upon on the way to Gangneung! This was my first time ever visiting Wonju, so I was curious what it'd be like, and getting such delicious food and kind service on my first visit made my first impression of the city really positive haha.

It's a Safe Restaurant designated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, so the space was very clean, and baby chairs were available so various kinds of guests could visit comfortably. If you're looking for a Wonju brunch restaurant or a pasta place in Musil-dong, I think Yolk Wonju Musil is worth a visit.
