Why parking is easy at Jusangnakwon in Dongtan Bukgwangjang

I went to Jusangnakwon, a bar in Dongtan Bukgwangjang. Bukgwangjang is packed with bars and restaurant rows, and Jusangnakwon has its own parking lot inside the building, so parking is easy — and the food is seriously good too. It's in a lively area, perfect for a first-round-then-second-round kind of night 🤩

If you're a regular at Bukgwangjang, you know the drill: on weekday and weekend evenings it's a nightmare to park, most spots are tight, and the public parking lots fill up fast ㅠㅠ But even though I went in the evening, Jusangnakwon's parking lot had plenty of open spots! The parking lot entrance is right next to the restaurant, so it's easy to find even on your first visit.

If you're taking public transit, there are lots of bus stops nearby — get off at Ramada Hotel, Dongtan 1(il)-dong Community Center, or Sinil Utoville and it's a short walk!

Jusangnakwon was originally a famous bar in Geumgok-dong, Suwon, and it's now opened its third branch here in Dongtan! That says a lot about how good the food is, and the inside is cozy and pretty too, making it a great spot for dates or gatherings. It's perfect if you want to eat a proper meal alongside your drinks — and the menu is huge.

What's on the anju (drinking food) menu at Jusangnakwon?

Jusangnakwon's menu covers stews, jjigae, nabe (hot pot), stir-fries, boiled meats, beef tartare, grilled dishes, fried dishes, pancakes, snacks, bunsik (Korean street food), desserts, sorbet, and even more — such variety! I especially love dessert, so the dessert section of the menu really caught my eye haha. The banana brûlée looked delicious, and the chapagetti with green onion kimchi looked like a great drinking snack too.

They even have bingsu (shaved ice dessert), so my mouth was watering...🥹 As for drinks, there's soju, beer, highballs, non-alcoholic options, fruit wine, and makgeolli, so you can drink whatever suits your taste!

We ordered the beef chuck jjamppong stew and the skein-shaped potato pancake! And of course, Terra beer to go with it haha. With so many snacks and drinks on offer I wanted to try several, but since it was just the two of us... unfortunately 🥹 Still, we made sure to each pick one dish haha. There are so many delicious-looking snacks...!!!

The basic side dish that comes out is egg shrimp chips, and they're so good ㅠㅠ Somehow they taste even better than the ones you buy at the store!

Beef chuck jjamppong stew with udon noodles: how spicy is it?

Jusangnakwon's beef chuck jjamppong stew is packed with bean sprouts, mushrooms, and beef chuck (short rib meat). There are tons of bean sprouts on top, which I love, and it works great as a pairing not just with beer but soju too! The kind of delicious snack that makes the drinks go down easy.

Noodles come included by default, but we added an udon noodle add-on! It's tasty with the udon noodles too haha. The spice level is just right — mild enough for pretty much anyone to enjoy comfortably! Anyway, this place clearly knows its snacks, because the jjamppong stew is so good. Guess famous places are famous for a reason 😳

The default noodles included are thinner than the udon add-on, and the portion is generous — a really good value snack.

Skein-style potato pancake and Jusangnakwon's 15,000-won corkage

And then the skein-shaped potato pancake! I saw it on another table and it looked so good that I ordered it haha. True to its name, the potato pancake comes shaped like skeins of thread, cut into bite-sized pieces that you dip into the soy sauce served alongside~ It's so delicious, and I'm curious how they even make it look like that haha.

The staff at Jusangnakwon are super friendly, the food quality is great, and the prices are reasonable, making it a good spot for friend or family gatherings and also for dates! Plus, even though it's a bar, they allow corkage (₩15,000), so you can eat a proper meal and drink at the same time — I was really satisfied and want to go back again.
