Baby dishware and steamed egg at Yangju galbi restaurant Manpo Galbi

I was out and about in Yangju and wanted meat for dinner, so I went to Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch! Yangju actually has a surprising number of galbi restaurants, so I had to decide where to go — but that day I was craving sweet marinated galbi, so I went for hand-cut Korean pork galbi :) It's a menu that's easy to bring kids to as well, so if you're looking for a family dinner spot, this might be worth a look.

Parking and first impressions at Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch

This Yangju galbi restaurant is spread over two floors and the building itself is huge and spacious!

There's a big parking lot out front too, so no need to worry about parking, and there's even a waiting area!!

Walking in, the inside was more spacious than I expected, and there were a lot of families eating together. At BBQ restaurants, tables packed too close together can feel chaotic and uncomfortable, but here there was a relatively relaxed vibe for a meal. Good option if you're looking for a family dinner or meeting spot in Yangju!

Even the chopsticks came individually wrapped and neat!

What we ordered and the banchan side dishes

Here's the menu! What we ordered that day was three servings of hand-cut Korean pork galbi + steamed egg, plus one each of the water naengmyeon and spicy naengmyeon (bibim naengmyeon) that come free with meat orders.

The side dishes were just the right amount, and they were all genuinely delicious ones! They give you raw beef (yukhoe) and pan-fried beef (yukjeon) too..! That's amazing, haha.

And of course onions, which pork galbi can't do without!!

How does the hand-cut Korean pork galbi taste?

The main event — the hand-cut Korean pork galbi! The moment it hit the grill, that unmistakable sweet marinated-galbi smell filled the air, and I immediately started thinking about rice, haha. Marinated galbi can get sickening fast if it's too sweet or too salty, but Manpo Galbi's hand-cut galbi was the kind you can happily eat alongside rice. The nicely browned parts had the marinade slightly caramelized for a deeper flavor, and the meat wasn't tough at all, so it was easy to eat. Pork galbi is great eaten plain, but wrapping it in lettuce with garlic is still the best way to go! When you go to a BBQ place with a kid, whether there's something the kid can actually eat matters a lot — and since this is hand-cut Korean pork galbi, it worked well for a family dinner out in Yangju.

Free naengmyeon (cold noodles) after the meat

And here's something I really liked — the naengmyeon! No matter how full you are after eating meat, you've got to have naengmyeon (cold noodles), right, haha. We ordered one water naengmyeon and one spicy naengmyeon and tried both. The water naengmyeon felt refreshingly cool after eating meat, and the spicy bibim naengmyeon was tangy and spicy, pairing well with the leftover galbi. Especially recommend saving one piece of marinated galbi to wrap up together with the bibim naengmyeon! No need to agonize over water naengmyeon vs. bibim naengmyeon — order one of each like we did and you get to try both. Best of all, being able to move straight from meat into naengmyeon made the meal feel properly complete.

Steamed egg, the easiest dish to share with a child

We also ordered the steamed egg, a must with meat. It was hot and soft, perfect to eat in between bites of marinated galbi. Especially after the sweet-and-salty galbi, one bite of soft steamed egg is such a good combo, haha. If you're visiting with a kid, adding a steamed egg to eat alongside rice is a great idea.

We started with 2 servings of galbi and it was so good we added 1 more, haha.

Puffed-rice ice cream and the self-serve coffee corner

And here's an even bigger surprise — they have puffed-rice ice cream (crushed puffed rice + ice cream) ready for dessert, haha.

They even have ice cups ready for the iced coffee!!

Just grab an ice cup and pour the coffee — done!!

Mix coffee is available too!

My kid loved the puffed-rice ice cream, haha.

While paying, I noticed there were still 10 parties waiting..! Definitely a popular spot in Yangju!!

They even thoughtfully have floss and candy set out.

And I didn't know this, but there's an actual puffed-rice popping machine!! So cool, haha.

Is Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch worth it for families?

Overall, we had a satisfying meal at Manpo Galbi Yangju Main Branch, from the hand-cut Korean pork galbi to steamed egg, water naengmyeon, and bibim naengmyeon. If you're looking for a place to eat meat with family in Yangju, or if you love pork galbi, it's worth stopping by.
