Japanese steak restaurant at Seoul Station after a work trip: Ichigyu
In short
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch (이치규 서울역점) is a gyukatsu and steki (Japanese-style steak) restaurant in the basement food court of the LG Seoul Station Building, right by Seoul Station Exit 10 in Jung-gu, Seoul. Arriving at Seoul Station by train one evening after a business trip, the writer had dinner there with a younger sibling: hot-plate Stamina Steki, striploin steki and a mini curry, with the steaks grilled on a mini brazier. The striploin steki, cooked to their liking on a personal brazier with melted Isigny butter, was the highlight of the Seoul Station dinner.

Why I had dinner at Seoul Station after a business trip
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a gyukatsu and steki restaurant I picked for a light dinner with my younger sibling after a business trip. I'd taken the train out of town for work and got back to Seoul Station around dinnertime, haha. I couldn't be bothered to cook at home, so I talked my sibling into grabbing a bite here first. I searched for somewhere near Seoul Station where we could eat something light and low-pressure, and found this Seoul Station gem, Ichigyu!
I'd come across Ichigyu once while searching for restaurants in Gangnam, thought it looked tasty, and told myself I'd go someday. Today's the day! So I went straight over, haha.

Where is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch? Which exit?
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is in the basement food court of the LG Seoul Station Building. Come out of Seoul Station Exit 10 and walk straight ahead for about 15 seconds and you'll see it.

Shall we head down? It was dinnertime but fairly quiet, so we found the restaurant and walked in easily, haha.

Ahh, the gyukatsu (beef cutlet) is going to be so good, haha.

Oh, love at first sight! The entrance of Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch has a huge meat model and a cute, cozy feel, haha.

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch hours and break time
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is open daily 11:00–21:30, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00. If you want a relatively quiet weekend lunch near Seoul Station, I highly, highly recommend it.
(I used to work around Seoul Station, and weekends are much quieter than weekdays.)

Atmosphere, seating and reservations
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch has quite a lot of seats, haha. It feels like a cute little Japanese restaurant, and Naver reservations are available too.

Ichigyu's menu and what we ordered
The menu at Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch runs from gyukatsu to steki, hot-plate dishes and single items. A Naver review event was also running when we visited.
We wanted a light meal, so we ordered like this:
- Hot-plate Stamina Steki (striploin with special sauce, served on a hot plate)
- Striploin steki
- Side mini curry
I really wanted a highball and a beer too, but I held back today ^_^!

And here comes the mini brazier for grilling the striploin steki!

The rice also came so each of us could scoop out as much as we wanted, which was nice, haha.

What does the hot-plate Stamina Steki taste like?
Ichigyu's Stamina Steki is a thick striploin steak topped with butter; you pour special sauce over it and lightly sear it on the hot plate. Next up was the Stamina Steki! Oh, such a neat, tidy spread.
A thick striploin steak with butter on top! Splash the sauce over it, sear it briefly on the hot plate, and eat.

It's like a mild hamburg steak, or tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patty) without the sauce. The texture and taste sit somewhere in between, haha.

It had a subtly charming flavor. Paired with rice and soup, the combo was fantastic, haha.

Striploin steki grilled on a mini brazier with Isigny butter
Ichigyu's striploin steki is thick striploin, only lightly seared on the outside, that you grill piece by piece on a mini brazier with melted Isigny butter. Next came the striploin steki! A generous portion of thick, chunky striploin.

It comes lightly seared on the outside. You melt the Isigny butter that comes with the mini brazier, lay the meat on piece by piece to give it another light butter coating,

and then eat. Seriously insanely good,,, and the sizzling sound of the meat is great too, haha.

Freshly grilled meat is the truth. Tender, rich and nutty, and it gets better the more you chew.

The side mini curry
Ichigyu's mini curry was a classic Japanese curry with ground meat. And now, the mini curry!

Exactly the flavor we all know and love! A classic Japanese curry, haha. With the ground meat in it, it's a bit stew-like, and it's the kind of taste you keep going back to?! Addictive, haha.

Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch: if I go again, the striploin steki
The most satisfying dish at Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch was the striploin steki grilled yourself on a personal brazier. The striploin steki was seriously so good. Really great!
Since you grill it right there on your own brazier, everyone can cook the meat to their preferred doneness, and always getting warm meat is a huge plus?! Haha. The meat is mild yet nutty, so it's good on its own, good dipped in sauce, good with vegetables, and really, really good with wasabi and rice, haha.
A certified Seoul Station gem, for sure! If you're looking for a tasty gyukatsu place at Seoul Station, I recommend Ichigyu!
