I overate at both lunch and dinner yesterday, so this morning I woke up bloated and feeling heavier than usual. Skipping a meal would only make me feel worse, so I decided to find something light but filling.
Why Salering Gyodae Direct Store for a light lunch near Gyodae Station
The place I'd noticed every time I walked past

I remembered a poke shop I'd often noticed on my way around, and my friend happened to be wondering the same thing about lunch, so we made plans easily. Without hesitating, we headed to Salering Gyodae Direct Store (샐러링 교대점), known as a poke lunch spot near Gyodae Station.

I'd only ever walked past it, so I was a little excited to finally go inside.
Location and atmosphere of Salering Gyodae
Loved the vibe the moment I walked in
Salering Gyodae is not far from Exit 1 of Gyodae Station, so it was easy to find. The clean exterior stands out even from a distance, so I got there without wandering around.
When I opened the door, I noticed the bright lighting and green-toned interior, and I liked how tidy the whole place felt.

Are there seats for solo diners up to groups of four?
Seating ranges from single seats that suit eating alone to tables for two and four, so you can sit comfortably whatever your group size.

The shop was fairly full, and it was nice to see everyone enjoying a healthy meal. It also serves dinner, so it seemed perfectly usable as an evening spot too.
Salering Gyodae menu and poke base choices
A happy dilemma in front of the menu

The menu has more than poke: sandwiches, soup and wraps are on offer too.

For poke you can pick brown rice or pasta noodles as the base, and there are several sauces, so you can choose to your taste. I liked that.
- Shrimp & scallop bibim poke ₩12,900
- Grilled chicken thigh bibim poke ₩11,900
After some deliberation, my friend and I ordered two: the shrimp & scallop bibim poke and the grilled chicken thigh bibim poke.

How do you order? Kiosk and self-service bar
Ordering is done easily at a kiosk. You pick the menu, base and sauce in order, and it was intuitive enough that I never got lost.

After ordering, you grab forks, spoons, napkins and anything else you need from the self-service bar and take them to your table.

The kitchen is open, so while you wait you can watch your poke being made, which is another little fun bit.

One side of the shop also sells beer and wine, so it seemed like a fine place to have a casual drink with your meal.
How did the Salering bibim poke taste?
A twist in one bite: the taste of bibim poke

The wait after ordering wasn't long, and the food came out quickly.
Shrimp & scallop bibim poke (pasta noodle base, ₩12,900)

First, the shrimp & scallop bibim poke. The shrimp and scallops tasted fresh and had a springy bite every time I chewed. They drizzle chili oil sauce over it generously.
I chose pasta noodles instead of rice, and it worked really well as a bibim (mixed) poke.

The sauce-soaked pasta, scallops and shrimp were each chewy and plump in their own way, and eating it was a real pleasure.
Grilled chicken thigh bibim poke (salad base, ₩11,900)

What stood out in the grilled chicken thigh bibim poke was the moist, nicely grilled chicken. With the sweet soy sauce and plenty of vegetables, it wasn't harsh but still had a deep savory flavor.
To keep it light, I chose salad instead of rice or pasta noodles, and it turned into a really generous poke.

The chicken was tender, not dry, with a grilled aroma on top, and every spoonful was satisfying.

Is it good the day after overeating?
Both bibim pokes at Salering Gyodae were mild yet filling enough for a proper meal, and afterwards my stomach didn't feel heavy; it settled comfortably.

When you finish, you just put your tray at the return window. I chatted with my friend as we ate, so time flew by, and the meal itself was a lot of fun.
A prepayment promotion event is also running, so keep that in mind. If you're after a light but filling meal, I'd recommend Salering Gyodae Direct Store as a poke lunch near Gyodae Station.
