Solo poke lunch near Gyodae Station: seafood all-in-one bowl, Salering
In short
Salering Gyodae Direct Store is a salad and poke restaurant about a 3-minute walk from Exit 1 of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a weekday lunch I had the Seafood All-in-One Bibim Poke (15,900 won) with soy sauce; the scallops and shrimp made it clean-tasting and filling, though adding all of the sauce made it a little salty. Salering Gyodae is worth a return visit for office workers looking for an easy solo poke lunch near Gyodae Station.

Why I went to Salering Gyodae for a solo lunch near Gyodae Station
Salering Gyodae Direct Store (샐러링 교대점) is a place where office workers around Gyodae Station often grab poke and salad for a solo lunch. I work in Gyodae, and lately I've been wandering all over looking for good lunch spots, you know? Then I noticed how crowded Salering was, so I went in. Lots of people were there eating poke on their own.

Salering Gyodae exterior and the vibe of a Gyodae Station salad shop

There are quite a lot of great salad places near Gyodae Station, because there are so many office workers. Everyone seems to be into dieting, so the popular salad spots are always busy.
Salering Gyodae interior and seating: is it comfortable for eating alone?

The inside of Salering Gyodae is green and feels bright overall. I've tried four salad places on the Exit 1 side of Gyodae Station, and Salering seems the roomiest and most pleasant. It also seems to have the most people.

Most of the seats are 2-person tables.

There are 4-person tables too, and solo seats are well provided. Since lots of office workers come here, the seating is nicely spread out. Regardless of gender or age, many people eat alone here. I assumed most would be women, but plenty of men come to eat solo as well.
Salering menu and how to order

At Salering Gyodae you order with a QR code or the kiosk.

The menu is roughly poke, lunch boxes, salads, wraps, soup and sandwiches. It was my first visit so I fumbled around a bit, but for poke it seems you can choose things like noodles, egg strips or rice. I ordered the Seafood All-in-One Bibim Poke (bibim means mixed).

By the way, at Salering Gyodae you take your drink yourself after ordering! There's more alcohol than I expected, huh? I guess people come for dinner too.

Spoons and chopsticks are on the left of the cutlery station. I checked the promotion notice there and took a photo.
How does the Seafood All-in-One Bibim Poke taste? Filling and delicious :)

Around 1 p.m. on a weekday, the customers suddenly all cleared out and Salering Gyodae went quiet. Then I heard a quiet announcement that my food was ready, and I went to pick up my Seafood All-in-One Bibim Poke.

Salering's poke sauce comes in two kinds, gochujang or soy sauce. I chose soy! Since it's the seafood one, it comes with lots of toppings: egg strips, crab sticks, scallop, salmon, shrimp and more~

Scallop first, yum yum. I think this is the first time I've seen a salad place serve scallop. (Says a girl who hardly ever goes to salad places.) The scallop was lightly seared, crisp outside and moist inside, and tender. It went well with the rice.

Then I ate the shrimp and vegetables. The shrimp was firmer than I expected. I think the shrimp really brought out the seafood flavor.

The Seafood All-in-One Bibim Poke was clean-tasting overall. However, it was a bit salty once I added all the sauce, so next time I'll use only 80%. It's clean-tasting enough for anyone of any age, and light on the body, so it was perfect for scraping the bowl clean.
Salering verdict: a Gyodae Station poke spot, and when to go
Salering Gyodae serves a clean, no-fuss bowl of poke, so I think it's a good place to come back to for lunch. On weekdays until 12:50 there are lots of delivery orders and lots of people, so pick your timing well. I do visit poke places now and then, but this was my first time at Salering.
