Solsot, a pot rice restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan
Today I want to introduce a pot rice restaurant that's famous as a Gwangalli lunch spot and Gwangalli rice house — if you're in the mood for warm, neat Korean food, it's a comfortable, atmospheric spot that works well for a date, a family gathering, or eating solo 🌿
Solsot Gwangalli's location — 3 minutes on foot from Geumnyeonsan Station

Solsot Gwangalli is only a 3-minute walk from Geumnyeonsan Station in Gwangalli, Busan, so it's easy to get to — I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a Gwangalli Korean food spot or a popular Gwangalli pot rice restaurant.
Even at weekday opening time there's a wait — easier to book ahead

I visited at weekday opening time and there was still a wait, so I'd recommend booking through Naver Reservation before you go — this place is that popular. Takeout and delivery are also available, so keep that in mind!

The menu has 10 kinds of pot rice, from the signature steak, sea bream scallop, and freshwater eel pot rice, to the new lobster shrimp pot rice. There's also a children's menu cheese pork cutlet and baby chairs available.

The interior is decorated nicely in every corner, so it's fun to look around, and there's even a fish tank I enjoyed watching while waiting for my pot rice 🐠
Honest review: steak pot rice, pork bracken pot rice, and fried shrimp

I ordered steak pot rice, pork and bracken pot rice, and fried shrimp, and they came with side dishes, soybean paste soup, and warm water for making nurungji.

The steak pot rice had fresh steak paired nicely with a savory egg yolk — not overpowering, but the kind of flavor you keep eating. I mixed it well, scooped it into a bowl, and used the pot to make nurungji!

Mixing in a bit of the provided steak sauce with the rice gave it a wonderful savory depth, and the meat was so tender and tasty that it's the kind of pot rice anyone could enjoy without complaint — I highly recommend it! The portion of meat was generous too, so I stayed full well after the meal ✨

How to make nurungji — 3 spoons of nurungji powder in warm water
You add warm water and about 3 spoons of nurungji powder to the pot, cover it, and let it sit while you eat your meal — here they use a special nurungji powder, so I was especially looking forward to the flavor.

Pork and bracken pot rice — double meat with the add-on option
For the pork and bracken pot rice I chose the meat add-on option, which gave twice the meat compared to a regular pot rice, so I could really enjoy a generous topping — the pork was also savory and tender and delicious.

The well-grilled pork paired with the bracken and delicious white rice made for a combination so good you finish it all even with the large portion — it's a magic pot rice that even kids who don't eat much rice would love, so I recommend it!

Wrapping bites in the seasoned seaweed that comes with it doubled the savory flavor and kept it from getting repetitive, so I could enjoy the pot rice without getting tired of it — a satisfying, healthy meal without any guilt.

Fried shrimp with homemade tartar sauce
I also ordered the fried shrimp as a side — the sauce wasn't the usual store-bought tartar sauce but a homemade one made with boiled egg, the batter looked crispy, and the shrimp were unusually large, so I had high expectations.

From the first bite I was impressed — the crispy batter and the plump, springy shrimp flesh came through vividly, and it was delicious and paired really well with the pot rice, so I definitely recommend trying the fried shrimp!

After finishing the pot rice, I opened up the nurungji that had been forming — thanks to the nurungji powder, the portion was generous and the texture and savory flavor really came through, so I could finish the meal with a delicious nurungji.
