In short
Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch is a peanut bread and egg bread shop in Namdaemun Market, Jung-gu, Seoul, on the way into Galchi Alley. I went to Namdaemun Market for the first time in a while, and honestly, it's packed no matter when you go. Grandparents, foreign visitors, all kinds of people come to look around, so there's barely room to walk. I was shopping around in a daze when a nutty, toasty smell pulled me in, and before I knew it I was packing up peanut bread. So let me introduce you to a Namdaemun Market snack favorite, Daesin Ttangkong-ppang (대신땅콩빵) Namdaemun Market branch!
Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch: location and hours
Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch is at 7 Namdaemunsijang 2-ga-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul (floors 1 and 2). It's open 10:00–19:00 with no days off. From Exit 5 of Hoehyeon Station it's a 3-minute walk.

The shop sits right in the middle of the market, on the main Namdaemun Market street in the direction of Galchi Alley (hairtail alley). Once you get close, the toasty smell just carries you along, haha.

They were handing out samples in front of the shop the whole time. Everyone was lining up and eating one before moving on, so I lined up too, and it was so good that I decided I had to buy some. Come to think of it, it had been ages since I last had peanut bread.
What else does Daesin sell besides peanut bread?

Besides peanut bread, Daesin sells peanut butter too. They said it's 100% peanuts with no additives, so it looked really delicious. You all know it's amazing spread on apples, right?

There was egg bread (gyeran-ppang, a little egg-baked bun) next to it as well. It was baked in a cute round shape and looked so tempting. You can revive it in the microwave or air fryer, so it seemed great as a snack to keep at home.

Peanut bread comes in 3 sizes: 20, 45 or 80 pieces. If you order 80, they put it in a box like this.
Menu and payment methods
The menu was set out in front of the counter, and there was a separate English menu on the wall too. Lots of foreign visitors must buy it.

Prices are cheap overall, so it's an easy snack to buy without worrying. They also sell roasted peanuts and a peanut smoothie. Personally I was so curious about the smoothie. Next time, for sure!

Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch is an Onnuri gift voucher merchant, so you can pay with Onnuri. Seoul Pay and Zero Pay work too.
How does the peanut bread taste?

Isn't the look of it amazing? It's not just one or two peanuts inside the bread. The peanuts come tumbling out. It's basically a lump of peanuts with batter stuck on, wow. Total bargain. As someone who loves peanuts, I'm a huge fan!

I ordered the 80-piece one, and they just scooped it into the box in big handfuls. It felt like way more than 80 went in; they kept going and going.

A box filled to the brim with peanut bread! They put it in a bag with the box lid left unfolded so it won't go soggy. Seeing the bread packed with peanuts, I could see why it made its name at Seomun Market in Daegu.
How to reheat and store leftover peanut bread

Daesin also packed in a note on how to enjoy it at its best.
- Air fryer: 180°C for 50–60 seconds, then cool for at least 1 minute!
- Microwave: 40–50 seconds in a home microwave, then cool for at least 1 minute!
- Fridge storage works for up to 2–3 days
- For 4–7 days, freezing is better
They say it's also good frozen solid, as icy peanut bread. I'd never thought of that, so it was fascinating.

Still gorgeous on a second look! There are 7 peanuts visible right now alone, wow. All of that in one tiny bun. It was so good that I kept popping them in without thinking, and my stomach got totally stuffed. Dinner is skipped, I guess... If you're looking for Namdaemun Market eats and snacks, definitely stop by Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch!!
