Seodaemun hair salon root perm for flat top hair: Salon de Supullim

I remembered being really happy with a layered-cut C-curl perm I got before, so I went to Salon de Supullim (살롱 드 수풀림), a hair salon near Seodaemun Station, for the same thing. I also added a root perm to bring up the volume on top. Here's my review :)

What are a layered-cut C-curl perm and a root perm?

A layered-cut C-curl perm means cutting the hair in layers and then curling the ends into a rounded C shape. It softly frames the face and gives a feminine, polished look.

A root perm adds volume at the roots. It fixes the flat, droopy look at the crown and makes hair look fuller. Do both together and the ends settle into a natural C-curl while the top comes back full, so you get a prettier overall style.

Salon de Supullim: location, parking and hours

Salon de Supullim is at 32 Tongil-ro 9an-gil, 3F, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, about a 2-minute walk from Exit 2 of Seodaemun Station. Parking is not available.

Hours are 10:30-20:00, closed every Tuesday.

Inside Salon de Supullim

The salon is spacious and comfortable inside, with a modern, clean interior and atmosphere. There's also a private single-person shampoo room.

Salon de Supullim treatment menu, discounts and booking tips

The menu is split into shampoo, cut, blow-dry, perm, color and clinic (treatment). Extra charges may apply depending on hair length (gijang in Korean, 기장).

If the salon gets busy you might have to wait, so I'd recommend booking through Naver if you can. The menu lists a standalone root perm but no layered-cut C-curl perm, so I booked a women's setting perm.

Drinks, charger rental and personal hair consulting

Salon de Supullim offers drinks and snacks, and you can borrow a charger if you need one. My designer was kind and took good care of me sincerely from start to finish.

If you're not sure what style to go for, they'll also do a quick personal hair consultation based on your face shape, head shape, overall vibe, hair condition and so on. A friendly, great-service hair salon near Seodaemun Station :)

Before: messy back hair and top hair that sticks flat

From the front I didn't realize it was that messy, but the back looked even messier than I expected. The top hair kept sticking flat to my head, showing my whole face shape, which was stressful too. First they trimmed off the damaged ends and cut clean layers.

Layered-cut C-curl perm + root perm: price and time

The layered-cut C-curl perm plus root perm at Salon de Supullim cost about ₩230,000 and took about 3 to 3.5 hours. If you have plans afterward, leave yourself plenty of time :)

About 6 months ago I had the exact same treatment at another salon, and even though my hair was shorter then, it cost more. Compared with other hair salons in Seoul, Salon de Supullim was good value.

C-curl perm steps

• ✔️ Straighten with a heat tool and neutralize
• ✔️ Second neutralizing, then shampoo
• ✔️ Blow-dry

After: crown volume and inward-curled C-curl

After a perm it's recommended not to wash your hair for about a day, but washing it doesn't reduce the effect much, so there's no need to worry.

I'd recommend the layered-cut C-curl perm if you worry about your face looking big, your hair sticks out and is hard to manage, or you like a natural everyday style. The root perm is great when you literally want fuller volume at the roots.

With both done together, my hair no longer clings flat to my face, so it doesn't stress me out anymore, and the ends curl prettily inward for a feminine, polished look. I was really happy with it. I recommend Salon de Supullim, a good-value hair salon near Seodaemun Station ♡
