Seodaemun hair salon gray coverage dye, long layers: Salon de Supullim
In short
Salon de Supullim is a hair salon on the 3rd floor of a building near Exit 2 of Seodaemun Station in Seoul. The writer, who has waist-length hair with gray roots and patchy faded color, got a dark gray coverage dye between levels 4 and 5, a steam clinic and face-framing layers in one visit with designer Yoseph. The gray along the part blended in naturally and the length stayed while the hair looked lighter and neater, a satisfying result.

I finally made it to a hair salon today. I've been neglecting my hair way too much lately.. So let me introduce Salon de Supullim, the hair salon near Seodaemun Station where I got gray coverage dye, a clinic treatment and a layered cut all in one go!
Where is Salon de Supullim, and what are its hours?
Salon de Supullim is at 32 Tongil-ro 9an-gil, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, on the 3rd floor of the Yeopddeok (Yupdduk tteokbokki chain) building. It's an easy walk from Seodaemun Station, so access is great 👍🏻👍🏻

I also saw a Naver booking discount notice on the stairs, but promotions can change, so check what offers currently apply when you book.
Gray coverage dye and layered cut: before and after
Comparing before and after, the overall look is clearly different.

What's the inside of Salon de Supullim like?
Inside, Salon de Supullim is a tidy space with bright lighting, large mirrors and chairs in calm colors. It doesn't feel cramped, and each seat has a mirror and a small table, which was handy for putting down my phone or a drink.
The shampoo area has chairs you can lean back into comfortably.

Because the space is separated, I could close my eyes for a moment and enjoy the shampoo in peace during the treatment.

The treatment seats, waiting chairs and product shelves were all neatly kept, and the whole place felt bright and calm.

Hair before the treatment: waist length, patchy color, gray roots
Before the treatment, my hair was long, reaching close to my waist.

The waves were uneven and the ends were dry and frizzy, a total mess.. My old color had faded so the brightness differed from section to section, and gray was coming in at the roots too 😭
How did the gray coverage color consultation go?
Salon de Supullim started with a color consultation for gray coverage~! I told them that this time, rather than anything too light, I wanted a calm, dark color to tidy up my overall look haha

Designer Yoseph first asked about the look I wanted and how I usually care for my hair, then explained the direction of the treatment based on my hair's condition. After carefully checking my hair and the mood I wanted, he recommended a dark shade between levels 4 and 5, which can cover gray.
Each treatment seat has its own monitor in front of it.

Dyeing means waiting while the color sits, but I could watch videos comfortably so the time flew by ^_^ An anti-breakage clinic spray protected my hair from damage.

L'Oréal Metal DX pre-treatment before dyeing
Before the actual dyeing, they used L'Oréal Professionnel Metal DX Pre-Treatment. It's a pre-treatment sprayed evenly over the hair before coloring, and I was told this step helps protect the hair's condition during the process. My hair is long and the ends were dry, so I was worried about the strain of dyeing, but the careful pre-treatment put me at ease.

I munched on some snacks in between, nom nom

Applying gray coverage dye to long hair
Once the color was decided, they began applying the dye. Starting with the roots and the spots where gray was noticeable, they divided my hair into thin sections and applied it carefully. They also kept checking whether my scalp stung or felt uncomfortable, so I could relax through it.

The dye was applied section by section so that no spot was missed.

Long hair takes a lot of work, but two staff members worked together quickly and carefully.

After the dye was applied all over, my hair was tidied up and pinned up while the color set. Regulars kept coming in, which made it feel like a salon where many people have been going comfortably for a long time. Next up: shampoo time~

Shampoo and steam clinic to settle the hair
Once the color had set, I moved to the shampoo area. After rinsing out the dye thoroughly, they shampooed my hair and scalp carefully, massaging the whole scalp gently as they washed. After the shampoo, they towel-dried my hair and moved on to the next step.

Even wet, I could see the color was evenly darker from the roots down, so I was excited for the result. After shampooing, there was more care to settle my hair's condition.

Since my hair is long and the ends were dry, they applied the product evenly all over and then treated it with a steam machine.

Thanks to that, even though I dyed it dark, my hair didn't feel very stiff or dry.
Face-framing layered cut that keeps the length
After the shampoo and clinic, we moved on to the cut.

I asked them to keep the overall length as much as possible, trim the damaged ends, and add layers at the front that naturally wrap around the face.
Was I happy with the gray coverage dye result?
Overall I was happy with the gray coverage dye, clinic and layered cut I got at Salon de Supullim this time >_<

The gray along my part, my biggest worry, was covered naturally, and my blotchy old color was neatly evened out into a dark shade. Mood refreshed!
Before leaving, I also took photos on the stairs where natural light comes in. The length of my long hair is kept, with layers only around the face and ends, so it doesn't feel heavy even when worn down instead of tied up.

Who I recommend it to
Among hair salons near Seodaemun Station, I'd recommend this to anyone thinking about gray coverage dye or a dark toned-down color, and to anyone with long hair who wants a neat layered cut while keeping the length. If you're looking for a friendly salon near Seodaemun Station with careful consultations, try a consultation with designer Yoseph at Salon de Supullim :)
