Namwon café for a friends' chat over pumpkin cheesecake: Monocle Jeju
In short
Monocle Jeju is a Blue Ribbon dessert café on Taewi-ro 360beon-gil in Namwon-eup, Seogwipo, Jeju. Four friends caught up at Monocle Jeju over gluten-free pumpkin cheesecake, iced americanos and a strawberry latte, and the hydrangea-lined entrance and forest-like terrace stood out. Monocle Jeju is a good stop on an eastern Seogwipo trip for both the cake and the atmosphere.

Yesterday was a very, very historic day: my friends and I, the four "Acorn Girls" (도토리걸스), got together! What happens when all four Acorn Girls meet? We chat until our ears ring and burst with happiness~ Anyway, since we were together, we went to take down a dessert spot around Namwon in Seogwipo!

I lived in Namwon for a month once and never found this Blue Ribbon spot, can you believe it? Let me introduce it right away! Seogwipo, Jeju café Monocle, let's go 😇
Where is Monocle Jeju? Location, parking and hours
Monocle Jeju is at 30-8 Taewi-ro 360beon-gil, Namwon-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju. For parking, just use the roadside spot inside the white lines in front of the shop =)

- Hours: 10:00–17:00
- Closed: every Wednesday
- Note: cakes can be reserved via Naver
Hydrangeas at the entrance and the Blue Ribbon sticker

Monocle in Seogwipo is both a cake-and-dessert hotspot and an atmosphere hotspot! Living up to its reputation, the landscaping is very neat right from the entrance. An owner who catches details like this is seriously stylish.. 😇

The hydrangeas were in full bloom at the entrance too! The symbol of Jeju in May, puffing up like clouds~~ >,<

The Blue Ribbon sticker on Monocle's entrance seems to be saying, "This place is great~~ Come on in~~"
How many seats at Monocle Jeju? Indoors and terrace
Inside Monocle Jeju isn't very big! There are 8 tables in total, each seating 2, but I think you could fit 3 with an extra chair. When I visited it was almost full, but by the time we left there was plenty of room!! So I got to take photos comfortably.

If it's sunny and not raining like the day I visited, sitting on the outdoor terrace would be nice too! It's really just the right time.. we have to enjoy it now! It's prime date season right now! Is everyone taking their dates to Geumoreum instead.. when there's an atmosphere spot like this~
Monocle Jeju menu and prices

Monocle Jeju's signature coffee is the Crown Brown Coffee, served with house-made caramel cream and brown cheese. They also had lots of Jeju organic teas. As always, I ordered an iced americano! Even though it's a tourist area, the americano is ₩5,500, so it didn't feel that expensive to me?

It's a Blue Ribbon dessert spot, so of course we had to look at the desserts! They keep baking, so there were no empty cake spots. The display was truly varied.
- Jeju Aewol-eup pumpkin cheesecake
- Classic cheesecake
- Earl Grey cheesecake
- Matcha cheesecake
- Victoria cake
- Chocolate fudge cake
- Matcha rocher pound cake
- Fig pound cake
- Classic scone
- Zesty lemon madeleine

Monocle even has a Jeju Gourmet Spoon (고메스푼) certificate, a true best-of-the-best! What are the odds that a café I just happened to stop at is this good? They say you live up to your name~ I guess I really am a lucky person..
Under the counter there were signatures from celebrities too. They also sell drip bags and coffee cups.

What impressed me especially: at Monocle, all the tableware is engraved with the word "Monocle." The neatly engraved lettering looked so pretty.

The interior is clean and tidy too. By the way, I want that gray Monocle T-shirt..
How do the pumpkin cheesecake, americano and strawberry latte taste?

What we ordered at Monocle Jeju: pumpkin cheesecake, an americano, and my friend's strawberry latte!

Jeju Aewol-eup pumpkin cheesecake
Think of the Jeju Aewol-eup pumpkin cheesecake as a gluten-free cheesecake made with 0% flour! The savory cheese flavor comes through strongly, and the sweetness of the pumpkin spreads through your mouth at max. In a word? Totally my style.. *smooch*

Iced americano
Monocle Jeju's americano was nutty coffee at its purest, with no sourness and no astringency! >,< It was packed with ice, which killed my thirst, the best!

Strawberry latte
As you can see in the photo, the strawberry latte was half milk, half strawberry! Strawberry syrup, generously piled in~>< My friend devoured it haha. Mix it well and it's honey-sweet 💕
Verdict: a café to stop at on an eastern Seogwipo trip

Today the four Acorn Girls went on a date to Monocle Jeju, a dessert and cake spot in Namwon with consecutive Blue Ribbon awards and a Jeju Gourmet Spoon certificate! As you can tell from the photo, the outdoor seating is landscaped so well it feels like a trip into the forest, perfect for a date!! If you're planning to head east on your Seogwipo trip, please stop by! >,<⭐
