Masan Korean BBQ worth a weeknight wait, kelp steamed egg: Anmin Masan

My dream, totally-my-taste BBQ place: Anmin 🤍 I ate so well at Anmin Jungdong that I told myself I'd become a regular, and then I found out there's an Anmin Masan right near my house❓ Of course I couldn't not go, so off I went〰️‼️ And wow, the wait here is no joke either 🤣

Is there a wait at Anmin Masan on a weekday night?

I went at 8:30 pm on a Tuesday, pretty late for dinner, and there was still a wait. I put my name down and a table opened up after a short while. Wow, haha. I guess everybody really does come for the good places 👀 Even with the wait it was so delicious that the time didn't feel wasted at all, just a happy evening〰️ I can't resist good meat‼️

Is the 450g half-pig set enough for two people?

The moment we sat down at Anmin Masan, we ordered the half-pig set. 450g sounds like it might not be much, but no, no! It's just right for two, so half-pig it was again this time〰️

Anmin Masan's signature is pork grilled on a special brazier 👍 I've honestly never seen anything like it‼️ And the meat is seriously thick.

Staff grill the pork, and a flame under the plate keeps it warm

At Anmin Masan the staff grill the meat for you, and once it's done, a small flame under the plate keeps it warm to the very end. It's so thick that one bite gives you a rush of juices, mmm. We just get to sit back and eat, which is great, so good. I especially love the thoughtful touch of keeping the finished meat hot all the way through‼️

There's a tiny flame under the plate, so every last piece stays warm and delicious ❣️ And with great meat, a cold highball is just *chef's kiss* 👀 (Anmin Masan is also a great spot for highballs, by the way.)

In the half-pig set, the pork neck, pork belly, pork skin and grilled green onion are all delicious, one by one. The shiitake mushrooms especially are crazy good 🤣 And wrapped in lettuce? Even better❓

How are Anmin Masan's side dishes and soybean paste stew?

Anmin Masan is serious about more than the meat: the side dishes and banchan (small shared dishes) get the same care. The banchan and sauces were all so good that I kept picking at them 🤣 The yuja danmuji (citrus-flavored pickled radish) was my favorite,,

Last time at Anmin Jungdong, the sundubu stew (soft tofu stew) had kimchi in it and was unique and tasty, and the doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) I ordered this time at Anmin Masan is different and delicious too! It's packed with bean sprouts and crab, so the broth is really refreshing and there's no time to feel greasy after the meat, haha. My husband, a total broth monster, slurped it down without even breathing 🤣

Must-order sides: kelp steamed egg and scorched rice

The one thing I always order at Anmin Masan is the gyeran-jjim (steamed egg). My beloved steamed egg 💛 Steamed egg is always good, but Anmin Masan is crazy. You get a subtle hint of kelp and the savory depth just explodes‼️ It's totally different from ordinary steamed egg〰️ A real treat, haha.

I also ordered nurungji (scorched rice) instead of plain rice, and putting a piece of meat on the hot scorched rice was a dream combination... 🤍 It's really good together, you know❓ I'll eat it like this again next time.

Is Anmin Masan good for team dinners, dates or family meals?

For a team dinner near Masan Station or a date after a baseball game, just go to Anmin Masan〰️ Every time I eat there I feel the same: satisfaction at Anmin is always so high. The meat quality is good and the atmosphere is good, so it's great with friends, perfect for dates 👍 and really nice for a family meal out too 👍
