Gajeong-dong BBQ with kids: 800g pork neck at Euljiro Yeontan Gui
In short
Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch is a retro-themed charcoal-grill meat house in the main Luone City commercial district of Gajeong-dong, Seohae, Incheon. On a late weekday evening, a family of four ordered 800g of pork belly and pork neck with three bowls of rice and soybean stew, then finished with seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) for 12,000 won, and the frozen radish salad and self-bar grilled pineapple were the restaurant's own signature touches. Good value and a filling dinner for four.

Why we chose Euljiro Yeontan Gui in Luone City, next to Cheongna
Euljiro Yeontan Gui has been opening more franchise branches lately — one of those retro-concept meat restaurants that's having a moment again as retro dining trends back into fashion. There's no location in Cheongna, but the neighboring Luone City has one, so I went with my family. It's famous for being great value, and even though it's a meat restaurant, you can also get seafood there :) Let me introduce this Gajeong-dong favorite, with its varied menu and a nostalgic atmosphere that takes you back — Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch.

Parking and atmosphere: old-Euljiro looks from the street
Located in the main commercial district of Luone City, it's easy to get to, and in-building parking is available — a real Gajeong-dong favorite. The interior is done up in proper retro style, and it gives off Euljiro vibes right from the exterior, haha.

Isn't the entrance kind of charming? The door was plastered with what looked like intentionally old-fashioned promotional stickers — a nice touch of sense.

Inside, the tables were also retro-styled, and 80s-90s era music was playing. The many posters on the walls also featured stars from the 90s, and I could tell they'd paid attention to small details to stay true to the retro style :)

Seating and waiting at Euljiro Yeontan Gui: is the terrace cool enough?
There aren't that many tables, so at busy times there can be a wait at this Gajeong-dong pork belly favorite, Euljiro Yeontan Gui. We visited on a late weekday evening.

There's also seating that looks like a converted outdoor terrace. It seems good for group reservations, and I thought it might get hot there, but looking up I saw a separate wall-mounted AC unit facing the terrace side — the place stayed very cool even though it's a Gajeong-dong meat restaurant.

Menu and ordering: 800g of pork belly and pork neck by the 100g
The menu is handwritten with care, which adds to the nostalgic feel, haha. Looking at the prices, it's generally great value, right? This Gajeong-dong meat restaurant also serves shellfish like scallops and horn shell clams — grilling shellfish over charcoal sounds extra special.

Orders go through the kiosk on the table. Since we came with the kids, we saved the shellfish grill for another time and ordered pork belly and pork neck instead. You can order by 100g, so we got a total of 800g of pork belly and pork neck :) On top of that we added three bowls of rice and soybean stew!

They set up the basic side dishes and the charcoal fire. Meat grilled directly over charcoal — how could it not be good? Even if the meat itself is pretty ordinary, anything grilled straight over live coals just tastes better. Charcoal gives an especially strong smoky flavor, so I was even more excited 🫶

Self-bar and side dishes: the frozen radish salad is the kick
You can grab extra side dishes from the self-bar. Staff bring water and cups directly. You can also take pineapple from the self-bar to grill — it's a surprisingly good treat, more on that below haha.

Seasoned lettuce salad! Tangy and delicious with the meat.

The signature kick of this Gajeong-dong Euljiro Yeontan Gui — frozen radish salad (mu-saengchae). It comes out frozen like sorbet, and it's better eaten cold before it melts. It's cold enough to make your teeth ache, but it actually goes surprisingly well with the meat. This was my first time having radish salad served frozen, so it felt special too, haha.

Charcoal heat and the meat: thick-cut pork neck was the best
Our 800g of pork neck and pork belly arrived. Both cuts were sliced thick, which made them look even more appetizing. The meat quality looked good for the price too 🫶

The kids' soybean stew and rice got eaten right along with everything else! Time to start grilling! The charcoal heat was so strong that everything cooked fast. If a BBQ restaurant's heat is weak it's honestly frustrating,, 😅 We also brought plenty of kimchi and bean sprouts to grill together, haha.
Getting nicely infused with that charcoal smoky flavor :) The heat is seriously good, right? When eating out with kids, speed is everything, haha. The pork neck was so good to me — the thick cut gave it great texture too.

Eating perilla leaf wraps with the frozen radish salad you can only get at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Luone City Branch, haha. It pairs well with wasabi too. With all that smoky flavor, the meat tasted even better.

Plenty of bean sprouts and kimchi too, just like meat grilled at home :) When the meat is good, it goes well with any side. Honestly it's great with just wasabi alone, but pork really does pair especially well with Korean sides like kimchi and peppers 👍
Grilled off all the remaining meat — our family eats well, and 800g plus extra rice for four of us was plenty filling.

Grilled pineapple from the self-bar, the surprise of the night
We grilled pineapple and ate it with the meat, and it had a refreshing, cleansing taste. I wasn't sure about it since it's an unusual pairing, but it turned out to be surprisingly good, haha. Grilling the pineapple brought out a pleasant sweetness that paired really well with the meat.

Finishing with 12,000-won seafood kalguksu instead of cold noodles
I debated between naengmyeon (cold noodles) and seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) to finish, and went with the kalguksu. It's a serving for two for 12,000 won — pretty good value, right? It comes out boiling in a yangeun pot, set right on the charcoal so you can keep eating it hot :)

Plenty of noodles and a clean broth. I usually finish a BBQ meal with naengmyeon, but the kalguksu was fresh and good too. Since it's seafood kalguksu, there was shrimp and scallop in it, making the broth even more refreshing :) By the time we finished the noodles we were completely full — a great-value meal that filled up all four of us.
