Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong Branch (민규아빠네베이글 합정점) is a bagel café on Dongmak-ro 8-gil, between Hongdae and Hapjeong. I went to Hongdae and played the popular Where's Wally game for almost 3 hours, hahaha. To take a break, I stopped by this bagel hotspot.

From the name alone I thought it would be a small bagel shop, but it's a bigger Hongdae café than I expected~

Will there still be bagels at 4 p.m.?

At Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong, a lot of the bagels are gone once it's past 4 p.m. We arrived a little after 4 and many were already sold out. Sadly, we got what was left. Still, there's a good variety of bagels here.

There are delicious-looking muffins too. They're neatly packaged, so they looked hygienic. They look really tempting, don't they? This bread lover is so happy haha.

It's a bagel hotspot, but there are lots of other baked goods too. Financiers, garlic bread, chestnut pie... a bread geek can't resist~~~ They all look packed with filling.

What's the atmosphere like at Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong?

The interior is black and white with soft lighting. It has the mood you'd expect of a Hongdae café. The black-and-white look is nice, isn't it~~~ With the soft lighting, it seems good for a date too haha.

There's also a fridge full of fresh fruit. It's left open like this, and it all seems well kept~ It looked so fresh, and I really liked it. Such colorful fruit~~~

There are fresh sandwiches too! They seem good for a proper meal~ I like sandwiches, but I was full that day, so I skipped them.

Minkyu Appane Bagel injeolmi bingsu: taste and price

The injeolmi bingsu (shaved milk ice with chewy rice cake and roasted soybean powder) at Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong is ₩16,900, and it was still on the menu in late September. The summer was over, so I wondered if they'd still have it, and luckily they did. All three of us love bingsu, and it was a little hot that day, so we ordered the injeolmi bingsu without a second thought. Covered in soybean powder, it looks really delicious.

Red bean, injeolmi rice cake, nuts and ice cream. Clean ingredients with no fuss. The ice itself is milk, so it would probably taste nutty and good even on its own, but with all that red bean and injeolmi piled in, how could it not be delicious~

My spoon keeps going back for more. I have a cold, so I really shouldn't eat much, hahaha. But you can't resist delicious food~~~ Even if I'm sick tomorrow, I'm eating today!!! They have peach bingsu and lots of other kinds too, but the injeolmi bingsu was really good! Next time I'll try the peach bingsu~

What does the Sallyeonisup honey financier taste like?

The Sallyeonisup honey financier (사려니숲꿀휘낭시에, named after Sallyeoni Forest) at Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong is ₩3,500: chewy outside, soft inside. It's long and narrow, so it's easy to eat. It has a sweet coating and would probably go well with an Americano. Bakery plus Americano is a great combo, right~~~

I was full, but there's always a separate stomach for good bread~ It's made with honey, so it's deliciously sweet!

Almond choco bagel: is it really chocolate?

The almond choco bagel at Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong is ₩5,500 and quite big. Just looking at it, it doesn't look like a bagel; it reminds me of a red bean bun or a soboro (crumb-topped) bun, but once I ate it, I thought yes, this is a bagel. The chewy texture is great!!!

The soboro-like outside? It has a sweet coating that makes it even better. They said it's made with custard cream. At first I asked whether it was really chocolate, because it showed no sign of chocolate at all haha.

Looking inside, it really is a chocolate bagel. It's full of chocolate, so it's very sweet. I think this would also be great with coffee~ There's something like red bean paste here and there too, which makes it even sweeter and nuttier.

Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong: if I go again

Minkyu Appane Bagel Hapjeong really is a true bagel hotspot. Next time I'll come earlier and try more kinds of bagels. I'll skip lunch and fill up on bagels~~~ For anyone planning a date in Mapo, this Hongdae bagel spot seems like a good choice^^
