My first-ever makeup for an ID photo at a Hongdae salon

I was due to take an ID photo for the first time in a while, so I got hair and makeup done at Today Makeup (오늘메이크업) in Hongdae, the first time in my life. You might think, makeup just for an ID photo? But it was something I'd always wanted to try, so I killed two birds with one stone..

The place I trusted with my first makeup is Today Makeup in Hongdae >,< The distance is fine from Incheon, and I went after reading all kinds of reviews, not just for ID photo makeup but also announcer makeup, wedding shoot makeup and more haha.

How much does hair and makeup cost at Today Makeup?

Hair and makeup at Today Makeup is in the low ₩100,000s, which is great value, right? Wedding makeup is a bit more expensive, of course ..!!

How to prepare after booking Today Makeup

I booked through Naver Booking, and once the booking is done they send you a text! The text said to shampoo only (no treatment) and to put on just toner and lotion, so here is my super-duper-duper haggard bare-faced "before"!

How does ID photo hair and makeup work, step by step?

When you arrive, they first put a skin pack on your face! Then they ask what hair and makeup you want, and since I hadn't looked anything up, I frantically searched while the pack was on!

They set your hair roughly while the skin pack is on, so you need to say the style you want around then! I asked for a half-updo haha. I wear half-updos a lot, and the stylist got it right away. She said it's a hairstyle that suits me (?)..

Advice on my everyday makeup worries in the makeup room

Then we moved to another room to start the makeup properly! Wow, all kinds of color cosmetics were laid out, and my eyes didn't know where to look.

The makeup artist gave me lots of information so I wouldn't get bored (?) and the time would be well spent..! She asked a lot about my usual makeup style and my worries, so I said I draw my eyeliner thicker than you'd expect, and that my worry is that my skin has been getting super oily lately.. ha. She kept telling me which base products to use and how to touch up, and I felt so grateful and that she was really kind >,<

Slightly bold but clean makeup, adjusted on the spot

How does she draw eyebrows this pretty.. I'm bad at eyebrows so I don't draw them at all.. The eyeliner is so clean too, right? Since this was for an ID photo, I asked for it a little bold but clean!

She reflected my taste a lot, both during the makeup and at the finish! Since I'd never worn makeup this bold, some parts felt a bit heavy. For example, I don't do over-lips, so it felt really unfamiliar.. and she adjusted right away to my feedback haha.

After the makeup, I moved seats again for the hair! Now to put in waves and start the half-updo!

Her hands were really fast and she was so good with hair.. amazing.. The hair stylist said it's good to get makeup done often, and before, since it costs a fair bit, I thought I only needed it when it really mattered. But once I actually tried it, I realized you can't leave everything to the stylists, and I understood exactly what she meant!

You know best what suits you, so if you get it done often and ask for the style you want, I think you'll end up with a result you like much more!!

How did the bold makeup look in the ID photo?

Ta-da, my ID photo! My hair came out so pretty, and with makeup good enough that my lashes show in an ID photo! Didn't it turn out great haha. The parts I'd thought were a bit bold mostly faded out in the photo, just as the stylist said haha. Listen to the experts..!

These are my lashes, shot at home after the photo! They're so pretty that I'm going to practice applying individual lashes myself.

It's my first time putting this many face photos on my blog...... but my skin is glowing, the lashes, the flower of makeup, are full and pretty,, and I really liked it.. haha.

It was my first makeup ever so I was a little nervous, but I was really satisfied with Today Makeup in Hongdae. They do everything from ID photo makeup to announcer and wedding makeup, so I trusted them, and with hair and makeup in the low ₩100,000s, I can recommend it as a good-value makeup salon in Hongdae.

They asked carefully even about my usual makeup style and worries, so the result reflected my taste a lot, and from the half-updo to the waves their hands were so fast and skilled that I was in awe the whole time haha. They adjusted the eyeliner and lip color tone right away when I asked, so it all ended up natural with no awkwardness, and the makeup, set a little bold for the ID photo, came out just right in the picture.

It's an easy distance even from Incheon, so access was good too, and I can confidently recommend it to anyone looking for ID photo makeup or wedding makeup in Hongdae. I'd like to visit again next time there's a special day ⋆ ₊ ﾟ ☽ * ₊
