Car windshield oil film remover for beginners: AutoGrooming Clean View

With frequent spring rain, I felt that visibility through my car windows was not very good while driving. Ahead of the monsoon season, I used AutoGrooming Clean View car windshield oil film remover to remove the oil film. I had never washed a car with my own hands before, so I wondered whether it would be easy enough for a first-timer to use.

What tools come with the product?

The product arrived in mint-colored packaging. Inside were the oil film remover and a dedicated towel. Since I wasn't sure what tools I needed to prepare, I found it convenient that the towel was included.

I liked that the towel was soft and did not shed lint. It was fairly thick, and it felt about half the size of the household towels I use.

What order did I use the oil film remover in?

The instructions were printed on the back of the package. The order was to remove grime, spray water, apply the product and rub in straight lines, then rinse with running water.

I worked only on the car windows in my family home's yard. First, I wiped away the bee droppings that were stuck all over the glass with a wet towel. Then I sprayed on plenty of water, and the oil film was clearly visible at that point.

I applied the product while plenty of water still remained on the glass. Rather than taking my time and being extra meticulous, I applied it and worked fairly quickly.

Was it easy to scrub with no car-washing experience?

When I used it, I didn't need to scrub with much force. As I rubbed with the towel, it felt as though the solution was adhering to the glass, and then I sprayed water to rinse it off. Even for me, with no experience washing a car myself, the process did not feel difficult.

How did the windows look after rinsing?

After using it, the oil film I had seen when I first sprayed water was no longer noticeable, and the glass looked much cleaner.

For the comparison, I did not wipe off the water after spraying it. Even in that state, I could clearly see the difference between the finished front-seat window and the rear-seat window I had not yet worked on.

After confirming the difference, I finished the rear-seat window too. Just cleaning the windows made the car feel neat and refreshed, and I felt good again when I drove to work the following morning.

I had thought removing oil film would be hard work, but this time it was easier than I expected. With a process like this, I felt it would be worth doing myself once every quarter.
