Cheonan café with a single-shot Americano and pork belly steak: Pino

I was out on an outing with my son and wanted to handle a meal and a café visit in one place, so we stopped by Pino Cafe. I was looking for somewhere with more than just coffee — a spot where we could eat together and that had plenty of space — and we ended up spending a more relaxed amount of time there than I expected.

Pino Cafe has plenty of parking space and is pet-friendly. After parking and walking toward the building, I was surprised at how much bigger it was than I expected. From the outside, it felt less like a café and more like a whole day-trip destination.

What we ordered at Pino Cafe Cheonan

Looking at the menu, Western-style dishes like pasta, pizza and steak were listed right alongside the café drinks.

We ordered whole pork belly steak, an Americano, and peach iced tea. I don't usually drink strong coffee, so I asked them to change the Americano from 2 shots to 1 shot. My son went back and forth and finally picked the peach iced tea. Since the outdoor garden is only accessible after you've placed your order, we ordered first and then headed out to look around.

The garden happened to have cosmos (황화코스모스, yellow cosmos) blooming. They weren't in full bloom yet, but there were enough yellow blossoms showing to give a real sense of the season.

There's also a camp-picnic zone further into the garden — during summer season, you can use it free for 2 hours with a purchase of ₩50,000 or more.

My son and I just took a quick look around. With so much open outdoor space, it was nice even just for a brief bit of fresh air.

After the garden, we headed inside, and — probably because the place is so popular — there was a whole new stylish, atmospheric space that had been added.

The floor-to-ceiling windows made it feel really open, and my son and I sat right by that window. The space overall is on the larger side, so it stayed comfortable even with us lingering a while.

How was the whole pork belly steak brunch?

Our pork belly steak arrived. Pino Cafe says it uses low-temperature aged domestic Korean pork (한돈). It was tender and juicy, and both my son and I ate it with satisfaction.

I'd gone in thinking of it lightly as just a café menu item, but the steak turned out to be filling enough for a full meal. We ordered the steak this time, but seeing pasta and pizza on the menu too, I'd like to try other Western dishes next time.

Tips for visiting Pino Cafe Cheonan with a child

Since the outdoor garden is only usable after ordering, I'd recommend ordering first when you arrive and then heading out to the garden. The camp-picnic zone is free to use in summer, so it's a good spot to rest for a bit during your garden walk. If two shots feels like too much for you, just ask when ordering whether they can change it to one shot. And since seasonal flowers like the cosmos change by the time of year, if you have a particular look in mind, it's worth checking the bloom schedule before you visit.

Is Pino Cafe Cheonan worth a visit?

Pino Cafe, a large café in Cheonan, was a good choice for enjoying a meal and café time together in a spacious setting. When I visited, the cosmos were just starting to bloom, and I'm curious what the outdoor scenery will look like once they're in full bloom — I'd like to come back again when the season is right.
