The storefront right by Mangpo Station Exit 3
Myeonsikdang is on the ground floor of Golden Square, right as you step out of Mangpo Station Exit 3, so it's easy to find. It's a great Mangpo Station lunch spot, and perfect for a quick solo meal haha

There's also a big menu board outside, so you can check whether there's something you'd like before going in. Very nice ♡

Looks like this place has been on a TV show. Wow.

Is Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station good for eating alone?
Inside there are 4-person tables, 2-person tables, single seats and counter seats, so it's comfortable for both solo meals and family meals. The place looks small, but it has plenty of tables, and with its wood tables and tidy interior it's a pleasant spot even for a simple meal. ♡♡

With 4-person, 2-person and single seats, you can tell they've thought about all kinds of diners ♡

The counter (dacchi) seats are quite numerous too, so it seems great for people coming alone for a simple lunch.

What's at the Myeonsikdang self-serve bar?
The self bar has pickled radish (danmuji), kimchi, small plates, a water purifier and more, so take as much as you need. They even have toothpicks, so thoughtful. hahaha

Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station menu
The menu has all kinds of Japanese dishes, like katsu, udon, ramen and rice bowls, so it's easy to find something you like. There are lots of dishes kids will enjoy too, so it's great for feeding the kids easily on a weekend afternoon 😀

How do the double cheddar katsu, tonkotsu ramen and fried shrimp taste?
We ordered the double cheddar katsu and premium tonkotsu ramen, with fried shrimp as a side, haha. Wow, the premium tonkotsu ramen came out first, with two big chunks of meat, two eggs and a very rich broth. The noodles were cooked just right and I loved them 😁🍜

Is the double cheddar katsu too rich?
This double cheddar katsu is seriously amazing. I had no idea it would be this good. ♡♡ With cheddar piled on twice I worried it would be greasy, but it actually goes really well with the crispiness of the cutlet, and the thick, gooey cheese and katsu match so well that I kept eating. With wasabi on top it's honestly heavenly ♡

The cabbage salad with sesame dressing, a zhiran-style (cumin) sauce, wasabi, salt, udon broth, kimchi and pickled radish all refreshed my palate between bites and made the next bite even better. Real unsung heroes ♡

The big fried shrimp was so full of shrimp that it was filling by itself. haha

Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station: final verdict
Tonkotsu ramen with rich broth and big slices of pork
The signature dish at Myeonsikdang is the tonkotsu ramen! If you love Japanese ramen, definitely go. The rich pork bone broth was so good I kept spooning it up hahaha. The thin, chewy noodles are totally my style too haha. With bean sprouts, chashu pork and other toppings, one bowl makes a hearty meal ♡
Handmade loin katsu: crispy coating, tender pork
If noodles alone aren't enough, add a tonkatsu dish. The handmade loin katsu lets you enjoy the crispy coating and the texture of the pork together, and it's filling in a different way from ramen or soba, so kids love it too haha. If you want the full flavor of the meat, eat it with salt or wasabi and it never feels greasy, you just keep eating. Not-so-secret: it makes you crave a beer... hahaha
Three dishes for two under 30,000 won
Two of us ate double cheddar katsu, premium tonkotsu ramen and fried shrimp, and the bill was still under ₩30,000. The portions are generous, and I was happy with both the value and the satisfaction ♡♡♡
Ramen, rice noodles, udon and katsu: plenty of choice
The great thing about Myeonsikdang is that it doesn't sell just one kind of noodle dish. With tonkotsu ramen, shoyu ramen, mazesoba, bibim soba, pan soba, udon, shabu rice noodle soup (shabu pho), katsu and tempura-style fried dishes, everyone in your group can pick what suits them, even if you all want different things. ♡
An easy Mangpo Station lunch spot for solo diners and families
Myeonsikdang is near Mangpo Station Exit 3, so it's easy to reach by public transport, and with the building's parking lot, driving isn't much of a burden either. From single seats for solo diners to seats for several people, it suits solo meals, family outings and meals with friends. With such a varied menu, it's a good place to go when you can't decide on lunch or dinner and everyone wants something different ♡
