Visiting for a holiday family meal, this was the spot — Geojedo Grilled Fish & Ganjang Gejang! It felt like every single person in Geoje had gathered here, the place was so packed, and I was really curious. Let me introduce it right away 💗!

How long is the wait in Gohyeon, and how does the waitlist work?

There's waiting space both in front of the entrance and further inside. The wait was really long, and you have to write your name on the waitlist and wait near the front so the staff can call you — it seemed best to stay put the whole time (if you're not there when they call your name, you apparently have to wait again...)

The place was buzzing. The staff looked incredibly busy and customers kept pouring in, and seeing all that I was already excited about how good this place must be. We also waited about 15 minutes before being seated (no reservations! You just go and wait).

‼️ Oh, and they told us the all-you-can-eat menu can't be mixed with other orders — it's only-all-you-can-eat orders. So we ordered the grilled fish & crab set for three instead ‼️

The basic side dishes that come with the meal

For basic banchan (side dishes) they serve seaweed soup, young radish kimchi, seaweed, cucumber salad, diced radish kimchi and spinach as standard. Every table also has soy sauce and fish sauce ready ~~

Self-serve banchan bar and when it closes

There are lots of additional side dishes beyond the basics at the self-serve bar, and since the bar closes at 13:30 for lunch / 19:30 for dinner, it wasn't fully stocked when we were there in that window. ‼️ But they do keep plenty of house-made banchan ready ‼️

All kinds of sauces are lined up too, and there's a big stack of disposable plastic gloves on one side — essential when eating crab 🦀🤍

There were so many house-made banchan ready — my parents especially raved about the cutlassfish jeotgal (salted seafood), which was amazing with rice. Really well put together.

We got there a bit after 13:30... so the jeon (pan-fried dish) and some other foods were mostly gone haha 🥲 (though honestly, the main dishes alone were so filling I don't think we could've eaten more anyway)

Steamed flounder, tofu with kimchi, sautéed eggplant — the menu was really varied ✨✨🙊

There's even a self-serve fried egg corner, so you can help yourself as much as you like 🥚🍳 With how much egg prices have gone up, I really appreciated the owner keeping this fully stocked 🙏 great for extra protein — but of course, only take what you'll actually eat 🫧🤍

What comes in the grilled fish & crab set for three

We ordered the grilled fish / crab set for three, and it really came out filling the whole table. ㄴ It included grilled fish, soy crab, spicy crab, soy-braised bulgogi and three servings of hot pot rice.

The soy-braised bulgogi had a great smoky char and was really tasty — sweet enough that even kids would enjoy it!! I like soy crab, but I'm actually more of a spicy crab person, and this spicy crab was really delicious too 🦀

For the hot pot rice, they scoop out the rice in advance and pour barley tea water over the crust to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea) ~~

It was nice to be able to eat crab to my heart's content after a long time. The set menu was so generously composed that you really don't need the all-you-can-eat option — the set alone was more than, more than enough 😋

Getting to enjoy healthy, oily-fleshed grilled fish alongside everything else — no wonder this place is so famous. ✨

And scooping rice into the crab shell and mixing it all up — that's another highlight. I'm already craving it again 🥺

Just look how plump this is... one suck of the crab, then a spoonful of warm rice, and the seasoning is spot on ➰👍

I didn't expect much since it's the all-you-can-eat option, but this had the best flavor and surprisingly high quality even for an all-you-can-eat item!!

We ended up with sauce all around our mouths sucking down the spicy crab too — the seasoning wasn't too salty, so it was just right 🤤. And crab needs seaweed on the side, right? They have seaweed ready at the self-serve corner, which was such a nice touch.

✨✨ The size was really impressive, and the quality didn't feel like an all-you-can-eat place at all 👏👏👏 They say they use 100% domestic blue crab.

Just a note — through Naver's receipt review event you can get a free jar of natural jumbo shrimp sauce (daehajang), so keep that in mind! You can order via tableside tablet ordering 🤍 Check the posted instructions too :-)

Dessert: puffed-rice ice cream (ppeongsecream)

After finishing the meal, if you order dessert through the tablet they bring out ppeong-screem (popped-rice ice cream), and it was really delicious?? Perfectly clean and refreshing as a palate cleanser — I wanted more haha

Getting to eat this much fresh, high-quality crab and grilled fish, table completely full, felt like a proper meal after a long time, and with both group seating and private rooms, it's also a great spot for group gatherings. Whenever I want crab again, this is the ganjang gejang and grilled fish restaurant in Geoje I'd want to come back to 🤍
