Mapo brunch café with a QR-only menu and seafood salad: HEOD Gongdeok
In short
HEOD Gongdeok is an all-day brunch café on the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail between Daeheung and Hongik University stations in Mapo, Seoul. It is the Seoul branch of a brand once known for French toast in Jumunjin, Gangneung. The writer wanted something tangy for the summer heat, ordered the seafood salad (18,800 won) with added mashed potatoes (5,500 won), and found dishes such as eggs in hell listed only on the table QR menu. Where is HEOD Gongdeok?
A great spot on the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, and a Gongdeok brunch favorite: HEOD Gongdeok. It sits along the forest trail that runs between Daeheung Station and Hongik University Station. Heod!

HEOD is a brunch café that belongs on any Gongdeok, Hapjeong or Yeonnam date route!

The Gongdeok branch is about to be renamed 'HEOD Mapo'. The location isn't changing, so just come on over and don't get lost.

A brunch café from Jumunjin, Gangneung
The surprise: this is the Seoul debut of a brunch café that has been famous for French toast in Jumunjin, Gangneung, Gangwon Province, since 2022, so I was happy to hear it! HEOD (해옫) means 'the sun rising.' The owner from Gangwon named the brand hoping every visitor would feel warmth, like the sun rising up through the clouds. Such a kind and lovely thought.
When I booked through Naver, I saw how generous the owner is. I've never seen so many coupons in one place!

The atmosphere inside HEOD Gongdeok
Stepping inside, the mood is so good, and it goes perfectly with the lush green of the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail!

The restroom is inside too, so it's clean and easy to use!

Check the QR menu first
Checking the menu at HEOD Gongdeok ✔️

There's a wide range, from set menus to single dishes. You order by scanning the QR code on the table, and the QR version has dishes that aren't on the printed menu, like eggs in hell, so start with the QR! Be sure to check the country-of-origin labels too ✔️

Seafood salad, ₩18,800
Gangneung means seafood, and above all I needed something tangy to stir up my appetite in the sweltering heat, so this was tonight's dinner: the seafood salad (₩18,800).

Fresh stuff next to more fresh stuff. The menu marks it as a staff recommendation, and it's a total hit with all ages. Shrimp, tomato, jjukkumi (baby octopus).

Add the olive oil and the flavor is 💯

They also gave me cabbage pickles to go with it, and they're definitely homemade!

Mashed potatoes add-on, ₩5,500
I thought about adding bread, but since the mashed potatoes are homemade, I ordered them instead (₩5,500).

A place where the side dish is not just a side. It's like a well-made potato soup. Gangwon potatoes, I can't resist.

What a gorgeous salad spread. If I ate like this, I feel like I could actually stick to a diet!!!

Parking if you come by car
It's great for a stop during a stroll along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, but if you have to come by car with family in the heat, they recommended the Sinsu Public Parking Lot (신수노외공영주차장), so drivers take note! An all-day brunch café with a lovely forest-trail feel and great food: HEOD.
