Gongdo, Anseong pasta café: basil cream gnocchi & ciabatta, Chat Baker

I was looking for a place in Anseong to have a relaxed brunch with friends, and that's how we ended up at Chat Baker (챗 베이커)! You can get brunch, dessert and coffee all in one spot, so it was busy even on a weekday! The big, comfortable space, the tasty pasta and the wide range of bakery items all won me over, so I'm introducing this Anseong brunch spot to you!

Bakery items and drinks at Chat Baker are available 09:00–23:00 (last order 22:00), and brunch is served 11:00–20:00. There is also parking.

Chat Baker has a large private parking lot, so coming by car was easy! Not having to worry about parking is a big plus.

Even before going in, the first thing that caught my eye was the 2025 and 2026 Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation (한국소비자산업평가) award certificate. I thought, there must be a reason so many people come here.

On the floor at the entrance is the Chat Baker logo styled like an LP record, which makes a nice photo spot.

What is the space at Chat Baker like?

Chat Baker is a large café in Anseong with two floors. The first floor has a terrace, and the second floor has a variety of floor-seating tables and regular tables. Let me show you the first floor first!

Upstairs, there were everything from floor-seating tables to regular tables, so you can pick the mood you want.

Plants dotted around gave it a fresh feel, the ceilings are high so it never feels stuffy, and the tables are spaced widely, which made it great for chatting with friends!

One side displays LPs, which completes the cozy, sentimental atmosphere. We sat in the comfortable floor seating and enjoyed our brunch.

Does Chat Baker have a good variety of bakery items?

Chat Baker is known for its bakery as well as its brunch! Freshly baked bread and cakes are displayed in great variety, so we could have dessert right after the meal. Browsing is fun too, and I think bread lovers will be happy here.

Pasta dishes we ordered at Chat Baker

Let's look at the menu at Chat Baker. We ordered the mentaiko shrimp oil pasta, the tomato seafood pasta (pasce-style) and the basil cream gnocchi.

Mentaiko shrimp oil pasta

Chat Baker's mentaiko shrimp oil pasta (myeongran, or seasoned pollock roe) has the light, clean taste typical of oil pasta, with the savory depth of the roe on top, so it was neat and easy to enjoy. It also had plenty of shrimp, which I was happy about.

Tomato seafood pasta

The tomato seafood pasta had a light, fresh tomato sauce rather than a heavy one, which let the seafood flavor come through nicely. It was generously loaded with seafood too, which made it fun to eat.

Basil cream gnocchi (highly recommended)

The basil cream gnocchi was the most memorable of the three! The combination of chewy gnocchi and nutty basil cream sauce was really excellent!!!! The sauce was so good that I still wanted more after finishing.

In the end we ordered extra ciabatta to dip in the leftover sauce, and that combo was the absolute best!!!!! If you visit Chat Baker, I really recommend ordering the basil cream gnocchi!!!!
