I wanted meat for our summer pension trip, so I chose Morakmorak Home & Cook because its price reviews were so good. The meat you eat at the pension before a trip has to be delicious, right? I search for Ansan butcher recommendations quite often, and Morakmorak had lots of reviews saying the prices were really kind. So while hunting for a cheap Ansan butcher, I decided to go see for myself 😆 I love yukhoe, so the fact that it's known as a top spot for yukhoe in Ansan was a big reason too.

Morakmorak Home & Cook is a butcher with many cuts of pork, hanwoo (Korean beef), marinated meat, and even soups like galbitang (beef short rib soup) and bone broth. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how many kinds of meat there were. Honestly, there's nothing they don't have. Even among cheap Ansan butchers, a range this wide is rare.
What I especially liked was that each meat is neatly vacuum-packed, so you could actually see the freshness! It was also easy to carry since we were heading to the pension.
The fun of choosing your hanwoo cut
The hanwoo corner at Morakmorak Home & Cook had my favorites, chuck flap (buchaesal) and rib meat (galbisal), plus many other cuts laid out so you can see them at a glance. If you've been to a few butchers, you know a shop that sorts its cuts this neatly is rarer than you'd think. That's when I really got why so many people recommend this Ansan butcher.
I'd strongly recommend Morakmorak Home & Cook both for trip prep and for when you just want an easy meat meal at home 🥰
How much are yukhoe and yuksashimi at Morakmorak Home & Cook?
The yukhoe at Morakmorak Home & Cook was ₩9,900 and the yuksashimi was ₩10,000. This was what surprised me most! The price is totally cheap-Ansan-butcher level, but the quality was not cheap at all. The color was good, there was no smell whatsoever, and above all the portion was generous.
They also give you the seasoning sauce, so you can eat it right away at home or at the pension. That was honestly the best part 👍 If you're after the ultimate yukhoe, definitely try the yukhoe at Morakmorak Home & Cook.
How the brisket, yukhoe and yuksashimi tasted at the pension
I bought thin-sliced brisket + yukhoe + yuksashimi at Morakmorak Home & Cook, and the total was in the high ₩20,000s… is that even possible? The value is crazy 😭💗 When we got to the pension I put everything in the fridge right away and cooked it for dinner, and it was still as fresh as when I bought it.
The brisket gave off a nutty aroma as the fat spread while grilling… The yukhoe and yuksashimi were clean with no gamey smell, and the yuksashimi in particular was still pleasantly chewy. The portion was generous enough to fill two adults completely, so my satisfaction was 200%!
By this point I totally understood why people recommend this Ansan butcher.
