With the weather this hot and humid, it's the season to eat something hearty that gets your energy back, so I'm introducing a meat spot: I visited Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gimpo Janggi branch (한마음정육식당 김포장기점), a Korean BBQ place in Janggi, Gimpo 🙌

Where is Hanmaeum Butcher Restaurant Gimpo Janggi branch, and what are its hours?
The restaurant is one minute from Janggi Station on the Gimpo Goldline, and there are two public parking lots nearby, so it's easy to reach by public transport or by car. We drove and parked in the lot right in front. You can see the station from the building entrance, so yes, it's officially a Janggi Station BBQ place 😆 haha

There are no closing days and no break time, which is so nice haha
As soon as you walk in, you see the aging fridge and the area where the meat is prepared! Fresh meat right in front of you, so it already looks delicious..?? ₍ᐢ•̥﹃ •̥ᐢ₎

Free side set with doenjang stew and steamed egg as standard
The basic table setting is free, and it includes doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and steamed egg, which other places make you pay extra for. The table setting alone gets a pass 👍

Honestly, at another restaurant I once found debris (like chili flakes..) in a water bottle, so I always drink with half a worry, but here they gave me a fresh, new 500ml bottle. So. Very. Clean. 😮

The steamed egg is less like Korean-style gyeran-jjim and more like a pudding-style chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg custard) 🍳 If you order just plain rice for the kids and mix it in, I bet they'd finish a whole bowl, right??

Jjolmyeon noodles inside the scallion salad: the owner's clever touch
Neighbors, look at this, the owner's touch is amazing..!!! The basic pajeori (seasoned scallion salad) has jjolmyeon noodles (chewy wheat noodles) hidden inside ㅜㅜ While mixing it I felt like I'd found treasure and went wow!! lol
The doenjang stew has its own burner, so you can eat it hot until the end, which I liked.

Hanmaeum's menu and what we ordered
Here are the menu photos all together 📝 There's a separate kids' menu, which is so sweet.. it seems great for bringing children as a family haha. This time we wanted to show you the quality of both kinds of meat, so we ordered the half-cow set (소반마리), pork neck, rice and drinks!

Kids' zone and window rooms: good for family gatherings?
While waiting for the food, I checked out the special "Kids Zone" 🤹♀️ The glass is wide open like a big window, so if you sit at a table next to the kids' zone you can keep an eye on the children while eating comfortably. It's bigger than most kids' cafés, and you can feel the care for young guests!
Another plus is the tidy window-side rooms 👏 The rooms sit in a long row on one side, big enough for a group dinner or a small event like a year-end party.

Each room is divided by sliding doors, and with a larger group you can open them into one big room. It's by the window so it feels open, and this room was the biggest selling point for me. For a parent's birthday, or these days when many families skip holiday cooking and have a family meal instead, right? I thought booking Hanmaeum and bringing them here would be so nice~ 🤗

On one side there's a handy self-service bar! Staff check on it now and then to keep it neat and clean. Good good.
A serving robot is bringing our meat! New technology, I love it..🤖

How did the half-cow beef taste?
The half-cow beef was tender, with nothing tough and great beefy flavor! Just look at that purple-ish meat color~~ 🐮 The butcher restaurant I used to go to has good value like this one but the meat quality was so-so, so I hadn't expected much.

Aaah I want to eat it again ૮ ⸝⸝⸝´ཫ`⸝⸝⸝ ა The meat gets slightly charred on the grill, so it feels like a barbecue lol. My boyfriend (nicknamed "Potato") grilled it so well that I was busy taking photos to show you all 🤣

Potato grilled it medium-well, lol. Even cooked this much it isn't tough and is so delicious!!

Extra-ordered pork neck, as thick as a steak
Next, the extra pork neck we ordered makes its entrance~~ 🐷 We only added one serving, so I thought the king oyster mushrooms and shishito-style peppers that came with the half-cow set wouldn't come again, but they did, and I was touched. Grilling those veggies is a treat too haha. JMT (insanely delicious)

Isn't this basically steak-level thickness and quality lol? The pork neck got grilled like a steak barbecue (so good!!). Potato said the pork neck was even better than the beef, but I thought the beef was better? Anyway, both were delicious 😋

There was a tip sign for fried rice / doenjang rice, and my one regret is that I was too full to try it,, sob. I'll have to come back with my family soon!
Because both the meat and the basic side dishes were so good, I didn't think about my capacity and got way too full, so in the end.. I raised the white flag lol (waving~..waving~.. I give up, it was too delicious..~)

Restroom and counter amenities, plus parking tips
The restroom has a diaper-changing table, so that's thoughtful touch number 2, I thought.

Next to the counter there's candy, mouthwash, deodorizer spray and phone chargers, which was thoughtful touch number 3 😲
If you park in the public lot, they support free parking for 1 car per party for up to 2 hours 🚗 It's spacious and really easy to park, but on weekends it can sometimes be full. There's also a small lot in the building and paid street parking, so check and park accordingly!
A stroll around Janggi after the meal
I'd heard Janggi has many hidden gems, and I feel so proud to have found one of them 😊 There are plenty of famous cafés nearby and La Venezia (라베니체) is close too, so a meal at Hanmaeum followed by a walk would make a great outing route hehe ♡⸜(ˆᗜˆ˵ )⸝♡ Thumbs up for flavor!!!
