Suwon fish restaurant, stroller space & tender mackerel: Godeungeo
In short
Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch (고등어명품이되다 수원점) is a grilled fish and raw fish restaurant on Seobu-ro in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon. On a visit with the kids, the writer ordered the Myeongpum set at 29,000 won per person, which brought two grilled mackerel, mackerel sashimi and jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), while high chairs, kids' spoons, a microwave for baby food and a self-service side-dish bar made the family meal easy. The mackerel at Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda was unusually moist and tender, so the kids ate it happily, which makes it a good grilled fish pick for a family meal out in Suwon.

I was looking for a good grilled fish place in Suwon where we could have a hearty meal with the kids, and ended up at Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch (고등어명품이되다 수원점). Grilled fish is an easy choice when eating out with children. This time I ordered the Myeongpum set, which lets you enjoy grilled mackerel, mackerel sashimi and spicy stir-fried pork all in one go. The restaurant is spacious and has plenty of parking, so it worked well for a family meal. 😊

Getting to Godeungeo Suwon and parking: is it easy?
The restaurant sits along a big road, Seobu-ro in Gwonseon-gu, so finding it wasn't complicated. The parking lot is also very large, so we could visit without worrying about parking.

The interior is quite large too. It looked good for families and also for bigger groups. The tables are spaced out and the whole space feels roomy, which made eating with kids comfortable.

Kid-friendly facilities: high chairs, strollers and a baby-food microwave
The restaurant has high chairs and kids' spoons, and there is enough room to bring a stroller in and move around.

There is also a separate microwave for warming baby food, so it seemed fine for visiting with a small child.

One side has a cafeteria area too. It looked like a nice spot to rest with a coffee after eating, or to wait indoors when the place is busy.

Side-dish self bar and the seaweed soup the kids loved
The basic side dishes were tasty, and there is a separate self bar where you can easily refill whatever you run out of. I went back for the ones I liked more than twice.

The kids ate the grilled mackerel well, but what they loved most was the miyeok-guk (seaweed soup). It was so good that they ate it with their rice. With the spacious interior, kid facilities and refillable sides, it was a convenient place for a family meal in many ways.

Godeungeo menu and Myeongpum set price
I ordered the Myeongpum set (명품 정식), which was ₩29,000 per person. The menu was more varied than I expected. You can choose grilled mackerel, Spanish mackerel, cutlassfish and other fish, plus braised dishes and bulgogi, and there is a Myeongpum set that combines sashimi, bulgogi and grilled fish. There is also a special menu with abalone sashimi and mackerel sashimi, so you can pick to taste.

The Myeongpum set came with spicy stir-fried pork, 2 grilled fish and mackerel sashimi, a really generous spread. Seeing it all laid out, it felt like very good value.

You get meat and sashimi as well as grilled fish, so even if everyone in the family has different tastes, everyone can eat well.

The most memorable part: tender grilled mackerel
What I remembered most from the set was the grilled mackerel. As the dishes came out one by one, the table filled up fast. Everything tasted good, but the mackerel flesh was really tender. I've tried many grilled fish restaurants, but this time the meat felt unusually moist and soft. It wasn't dry, so it was easy to eat, and the kids said it was delicious and ate it well.

My first mackerel sashimi
It was also my first time trying mackerel sashimi. It had a different charm from the grilled version, and I liked that the set includes sashimi. I was happy that I could enjoy this much for ₩29,000 per person.
Is this Suwon grilled fish restaurant worth it for a family meal?
What stayed with me about Godeungeo Myeongpumi Doeda Suwon Branch was the large parking lot, the pleasant interior and the varied menu. The Myeongpum set lets you enjoy grilled mackerel, mackerel sashimi and spicy stir-fried pork at once, so it suits anyone who wants a hearty meal. Best of all, the mackerel was so tender that the kids ate it happily. With the seaweed soup and the self-bar side dishes, it was a filling meal.
If you're looking for a comfortable place to eat with kids, or a Suwon grilled fish restaurant where you can try several dishes, the Myeongpum set here is worth a try. It's a place I'd happily return to the next time my family craves grilled fish. 😊
