Pangyo restaurant for a husband's day off: margherita, Tobeu Nain

Tobeu Nain Pangyo Main Branch is a wood-fired pizza and brunch restaurant in a standalone building on Sasong-ro in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. The writer went at weekday opening time with her husband, who had a company refresh day off, and shared the ₩62,000 brunch set for two on the second floor: ricotta cheese salad, margherita pizza, truffle white ragù pasta and coffee. Tobeu Nain suits both a relaxed weekday date for couples and brunch gatherings that need a private room.

Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Baegun Lake Branch is a wood-fired grilled fish and rice pot set meal restaurant on Neungan-gil in Uiwang, Gyeonggi, near Baegun Lake. The writer brought a worn-out mother for the premium boyang (restorative) set for 3, which comes with eel, flounder, mackerel and Atka mackerel plus spicy marinated crab and braised mackerel with bracken; the eel and crab especially suited the parents' taste. Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo is a good choice for a nourishing family meal with parents.

Uiwang yakiniku with a teen, 6,000-won stew: Yakiniku Pungyeong

Yakiniku Pungyeong (야끼니꾸풍경) is a Japanese-style charcoal-brazier beef yakiniku restaurant on Botdeul 2-gil in Uiwang, Gyeonggi, near Indeogwon Station. On a return visit with a growing middle-schooler, the writer grilled limited-quantity skirt steak and flower short rib, then had a 6,000-won doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), beef tartare rice balls wrapped in gamtae seaweed won in the prize draw, and dessert. The teen called it the best beef of their life, and Yakiniku Pungyeong delivered on both meat quality and generous service.

Seocho sandwich shop, blood-sugar-friendly dinner: Focaccia Cucina

Focaccia Cucina is a sandwich shop near Exit 3 of Seocho Station in Seoul that makes its sandwiches on house-baked squid ink focaccia. The writer and her husband visited around 2pm, took home the Caesar, Melanzane, Genovese and Margherita sandwiches plus a fresh banana golden latte for dinner, and after resting at room temperature and 30 seconds of reheating, the sandwiches still tasted freshly made. Focaccia Cucina is a good fit for anyone near Seocho Station who wants a healthy meal to take home.
