Seolleung Station ice cream shop: black rice & cream cheese, Scoopy

In short

Scoopy is a gelato shop near the Seolleung Station food alley in Gangnam, Seoul, that sells ice cream made in-house. After a meal, I ordered a Single Scoopy for 5,000 won with black glutinous rice and cream cheese, and the owner added a spoonful of pistachio, so I got to try three flavors. With chewy rice grains and a cheese flavor that doesn't taste artificial, Scoopy is a place I'd happily return to.

After eating in the Seolleung Station food alley, I was craving something sweet, so I headed to Scoopy, a shop that makes its own handmade ice cream. I love ice cream in general, and I especially love handmade versions where the natural flavor of the ingredients really comes through, so I decided to check it out.

Inside Scoopy — is there seating?

The shop is on the small side, but there are tables, so it's fine for a quick sit-down dessert. The showcase has colorful gelato neatly displayed.

Walking in, I saw the colorful gelato lined up neatly in the case. There were so many flavors, like in the photo, that I spent a good while deciding what to get.

Prices for Single, Double and Triple Scoopy

I checked the prices too: a Single Scoopy is 120g for 5,000 won, a Double is 7,500 won, and a Triple is 9,500 won. Given the quality of what I tasted, 5,000 won per scoop felt reasonable. What made it satisfying wasn't just sweetness — you could really taste each ingredient's character, like the actual rice grains in the black rice glutinous rice flavor or the natural richness of the cream cheese. There are also gift packaging options, including a Variety 4-pack with four flavors, which seems great for enjoying several flavors at home or giving as a light gift :)

What I ordered

On this visit, I ordered a Single Scoopy with black rice glutinous rice (heukmi chapssal) and cream cheese. I was curious about both flavors, and each had such a distinct character that I felt like I'd made the right choice haha.

Black rice glutinous rice and cream cheese Single Scoopy

Black rice glutinous rice — chewy rice-grain texture

I started with the black rice glutinous rice flavor, which was nutty with a mild sweetness. What stood out most was the chewy rice grains scattered throughout — such a fun texture. Unlike regular ice cream that's just smooth, the added chewiness kept me going back for more. It really did taste clean and upscale, which I'd guess comes from being handmade in-house at Scoopy.

Cream cheese — clean sweetness with no artificial scent

The cream cheese flavor was even better than I expected. Cheese ice cream sometimes has a strong artificial smell, but this one barely had that. The natural aroma and richness of cheese came through nicely and blended well with the smooth ice cream base — I really liked it. The sweetness wasn't overpowering either, leaving a clean finish afterward. It'd suit anyone who finds overly sweet desserts a bit much!!

A free taste of pistachio

The owner also gave us a spoonful of pistachio on the house haha. Thanks to that, I got to try pistachio along with the black rice glutinous rice and cream cheese. The pistachio flavor also had that same natural, nutty character — rich nut flavor with a lingering, mellow nuttiness in the mouth. It tasted like it was made by grinding real ingredients, and I personally really liked it too. Next time I visit, even if I pick different flavors, I definitely want to try the pistachio again.
