A Suwon Station date night that turned into a BBQ dinner
Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch (쏘삼208 수원역점) was our spur-of-the-moment dinner pick on a weekend date at Suwon Station. My husband and I were just going to pop into a café, but we got suddenly hungry while walking around, so we settled on Korean BBQ near Suwon Station haha

Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch kept popping up whenever I searched for good places near Suwon Station. Since we were already there, I booked a table and went.

Where do you park at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch?
You can park in the Hwanggeum parking lot behind the building, with 2 hours of free parking. Even though it's a popular spot near Suwon Station, bringing a car wasn't a hassle at all, which I loved haha

It isn't far from Suwon Station, so walking there is fine too. The inside felt neat and tidy.

Atmosphere and seating
The air conditioning was blasting. It was a hot day, but inside Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch it was cool and comfortable to eat.

The tables are spaced generously, so nothing felt cramped haha. Among Korean BBQ places near Suwon Station, it's an easy choice for a date or a group meal~ We got a table in an inner corner, so it was quiet and comfortable haha

Menu and what we ordered at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch
The menu is split into stone-grill set menus and à la carte items. There are also meal dishes like kimchi fried rice, steamed egg with flying fish roe and stir-fried noodles, which would be nice to finish the meal haha

After some deliberating, the set with 250g pork belly, 100g pork neck and 100g cheongyeopsal (scored pork skin) looked good, so we ordered the medium mixed stone-grill set haha. We also added a beef brisket doenjang (soybean paste) stew.

Side dishes and free rice noodles
The standard sides at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch were a neat lineup of scallion salad, wild garlic pickles and ssam (wrap) sides. They go well with the meat, so it's nice to have them one by one.
Rice noodles come out as a standard, free of charge, which I loved haha. They said refills are possible too, so it felt super generous!! The broth was spicy, refreshing and tasty.

Fondue cheese in the middle of the grill: skipped, because of the diet
The stone grill at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch has a raised dome in the middle, and that's where you put the fondue cheese~ It looked delicious just from the menu photo, but we're both on a diet, so sadly we skipped the cheese haha

A piece of tofu sat on the grill together with the kimchi, so we grilled them together. It soaks up the meat fat and turns nutty and rich, so it was secretly really good haha

Do the staff grill the medium mixed stone-grill set for you?
Our meat arrived haha!! The medium mixed stone-grill set at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch includes 250g pork belly, 100g pork neck and 100g cheongyeopsal, so you get to try a variety of cuts~!! Instead of just one cut, you can enjoy a bit of everything, which I liked haha

The meat itself felt fresh overall, and it looked in great shape just by eye haha
The staff grill the pork belly on the stone plate for you from start to finish, so we didn't have to worry about anything and could just eat in comfort. That was a big plus haha

The meat sizzled and cooked up beautifully on the grill, and with that nutty aroma rising up, I couldn't wait to dig in.

They grilled the pork belly really juicy and just right for eating haha

Lettuce is free via the kiosk
Lettuce isn't included in the standard sides at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch, so we ordered it separately on the kiosk. It's free to order haha

I put a piece of pork belly on the lettuce, added the scallion salad on top and wrapped it all up. The crunchy texture made it much tastier. There was also a guide on how to eat the meat best, so I gave it a quick look before eating.

The kimchi at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch was really good haha!! Try the grilled kimchi together with the pork belly and it gets even better haha

How were the beef brisket doenjang stew and cold noodles?
Next came the beef brisket doenjang stew. It was rich and deeply savory, perfect with rice, and the kind of taste you keep going back for.

You can't skip naengmyeon (cold noodles) at a Korean BBQ place~! The mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch has a cold broth and chewy noodles, totally my style!!

The cold noodles cleanly cut through the greasiness in my mouth, so it felt cool and refreshing haha

Is Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch worth going back to?
I really wanted to try the kimchi fried rice to finish, but portions at Ssosam 208 Suwon Station Branch are quite big overall, and we were so full afterward that we sadly skipped it. It was convenient that the staff grilled the meat, and the meat quality was good too, so we really enjoyed it.
The restaurant is clean and spacious, so it's good for a date, and it seems fine for group gatherings or family meals too~ If you're looking for Korean BBQ near Suwon Station, it's worth adding to your list! Next time I visit, I'm definitely trying the kimchi fried rice too.
