Seokchon Lake mazesoba date: egg rice mixed into the sauce at Matsumi
In short
Matsumi Seokchon Lake Main Branch is a tonkatsu and mazesoba Japanese restaurant near Seokchongobun Station and Baemyeong Middle School in Songpa, Seoul. On a return visit, a married couple ordered the spicy cheddar katsu and cream mazesoba they had loved last time, swapped the rice for egg rice, added a mini curry and mixed the egg rice into the leftover mazesoba sauce. With a private parking lot behind the building and solo dining seats, Matsumi is worth revisiting for a Seokchon Lake date or lunch.

What is Matsumi Seokchon Lake Main Branch like?
Matsumi Seokchon Lake Main Branch is a Japanese restaurant near Seokchon Lake where you can enjoy crispy tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) and deeply flavored mazesoba (brothless mixed noodles) together. It also has easy parking and solo dining seats.

When we crave proper tonkatsu and mazesoba near Seokchon Lake, our feet head automatically to our favorite spot as a couple. We fell completely for it on our last visit, so this time we came back and ordered the same lineup again. It's Matsumi!

Matsumi is close to Seokchongobun Station and near Baemyeong Middle School, so it's a great stop after a walk around Seokchon Lake as a date course. It's also the lunch spot for nearby residents and office workers around Seokchongobun Station.
How are the parking and solo seats at Matsumi?
Matsumi has a private parking lot behind the building, and when it's full you can use the Samjeon Neighborhood Park public parking lot, a 5-minute walk away. Inside, there are also solo dining seats.

Parking is the thing that worries you most when you travel by car, right? Thanks to the private lot, we can visit Matsumi every time without parking stress, which we really like. Even when it's full, the public lot at Samjeon Neighborhood Park is a solid backup. Inside, the solo seats are thoughtfully set up, so people dining alone can eat comfortably without feeling awkward. It's a great tonkatsu spot near Jamsil for that.
What did the couple order again at Matsumi?
We ordered the spicy cheddar katsu and cream mazesoba that we fell for last time. On top of that, we swapped the rice for egg rice and added a mini curry as a side!

Spicy cheddar katsu: cheddar cheese and a spicy special sauce
The spicy cheddar katsu is my number one pick, and I totally fell for it when I tried it last time! A thick, crispy fried cutlet is piled with rich, nutty cheddar cheese,

and a spicy special sauce that cuts right through the richness makes it a real treat! Crunchy cabbage is heaped on too.

The nuttiness of the cheese and the spiciness come together, and with the first bite my brows scrunched up and I wanted to make sure everyone knows about this!! I never got tired of it, and I scraped up the sauce too and ate every last bit.

Cream mazesoba: the one my husband orders every time
The cream mazesoba is a top-notch noodle dish where smooth, rich cream is added to the deeply flavored special maze sauce, so the savory umami just explodes! It's my husband's number one pick, so I think he orders it every time we come!

The sauce soaks right into the chewy noodles, so every mouthful feels full and generous.

How do you eat the egg rice swap and mini curry?
After you finish the noodles of the cream mazesoba, mix the egg rice into the leftover mazesoba sauce. The fluffy, nutty egg rice meets the sauce for an ultimate umami hit.

Add the rich, carefully simmered mini curry on the side and it was a perfectly satisfying meal!! We ate it all up, didn't we? haha
