Cheongna restaurant pick: Songrimbok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill Cheongna Direct Branch (송림복장어 민물장어 무한리필 청라직영점)
It's cooled down a bit since ipchu (start of autumn) passed — such a relief after that brutal heat. Today's restaurant is perfect timing for the upcoming malbok (last of the three dog days), and it's also a great spot for a Cheongna group dinner: Songrimbok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill Cheongna Direct Branch.

Not the cheap kind of eel — this is a Cheongna restaurant where you can eat domestic japonica freshwater eel all you can eat!
Where Songrimbok Jangeo Cheongna branch is and when it opens
Songrimbok Jangeo Freshwater Eel Unlimited Refill Cheongna Direct Branch is located at 152-14 Cheongna-dong, Seohae-gu, Incheon, and is open daily from 11:50 to 23:00. Parking, baby chairs, and takeout are all available.

You can park in the building's basement — the parking garage goes down to basement level 3, so there's no need to worry about parking. After your meal, just tell the counter your license plate number and they'll register it. There's an EV charging station on B3, worth noting if you drive electric.

After parking, head up to the 1st floor, exit to the right, and walk a bit further right — the restaurant is right there.

They do early-morning prep at the wholesale market daily, and takeout is also available.
Inside Songrimbok Jangeo: long tables and high chairs for babies
The interior of Songrimbok Jangeo Cheongna branch is clean and spacious, with plenty of long tables — great for family gatherings and work dinners alike. There are also lots of baby chairs, so it's easy to visit with young kids. When we arrived around 5:30pm there were only two tables occupied, but by the time we were eating, more and more guests kept coming in.

They say they handle live eel fresh every morning at the wholesale market, offering fresh, delicious eel at a reasonable price.

They're a partner with the 8th intermediary wholesaler of the Freshwater Eel Farming Fisheries Cooperative.

Bokbunja and drink prices to pair with the eel
Eel means bokbunja (black raspberry wine)! At Songrimbok Jangeo Cheongna branch, hanmaek draft beer is ₩3,300, bokbunja draft is ₩3,900, and a bokbunja highball is ₩9,000.

The self-serve bar has eel, pork neck, pork belly, and chicken neck, so you can help yourself easily. Fresh lettuce wraps, ginger, perilla leaves, green onion kimchi, garlic, and ssamjang (dipping sauce) are all set up too.

Pork belly, chicken, and japonica freshwater eel come out as the base order, and you can grab extra eel and meat easily from the self-serve bar.

How does the grilled japonica freshwater eel taste?
Time to put the eel and meat on the grill and flip away! It's not just eel — there's pork belly, pork neck, and chicken too, so you can enjoy a nice variety.

The fire is strong so everything cooks quickly. The eel is plump, grills nicely, cuts easily, and is easy to handle overall. No muddy or fishy smell at all — delicious with just a light dip in salt, and just as good dipped in sauce with a slice of ginger.

The pork belly, chicken, and pork neck grilled alongside are tasty too. The green onion kimchi and perilla leaves on the side are also great.

Is Songrimbok Jangeo worth it for a malbok summer stamina meal?
We enjoyed grilling up a full round and then went back to the self-serve bar for more eel and pork belly to keep grilling. Two people eating their fill at an eel restaurant usually runs about ₩80,000 base — but Songrimbok Jangeo Cheongna branch lets you enjoy fresh japonica freshwater eel unlimited at a reasonable price, which is great. If you're looking for a Cheongna group dinner or family gathering spot, give it a try. 🩷🩷🩷
