Looking for a café after dinner at Suwon Station
After dinner at Suwon Station on a weekday evening, I didn't want to head straight home, so I went looking for a café. That day, somewhere pretty was nice, but a place where I could sit for a long time and chat comfortably came first.

After some searching, I ended up at Hongrad Suwon Station Branch, behind Suwon Tax Office. I liked the atmosphere, but the ex-boyfriend toast was so much better than I expected that the dessert is what I remember most.

Where is Hongrad Suwon Station Branch?
It's not in the middle of the busy Suwon Station area. It's at the end of the Rodeo Street, a short walk in toward Suwon Tax Office.

It's on the 2nd floor of a building, so on a first visit check the signs as you go. The sign is big and easy to see, so you won't get lost.

Hongrad's signature hip vibe starts on the stairs up, so the entrance is already great for photos!

Are the space and seating at Hongrad Suwon Station Branch comfortable?
Once inside, the space was way bigger than I'd imagined. Quirky props are scattered around, and the vintage yet hip feel means there are lots of photo spots^^!!
At trendy cafés these days, chairs can be small or backless, making it hard to sit for long. Hongrad has sofa seats and an overall relaxed mood that makes you want to stay.

It looked great for chatting with a friend, and not awkward for working on a laptop or studying alone either.

If you care about both a pretty space and comfortable seating, this seems like a solid pick among Suwon Station cafés.

Hongrad Suwon Station Branch menu and prices
Coffee runs Americano ₩5,000, flat white ₩5,000, café latte ₩5,500, and mocha latte and vanilla latte about ₩6,000. For ₩500 more you can switch any coffee to decaf.

Desserts include kaya jam toast ₩6,000, Nutella toast ₩6,500, ex-boyfriend toast ₩7,000, Hongrad toast ₩7,000 and Basque cheesecake ₩7,500. There are lots of teas too, so it works fine with someone who doesn't drink coffee.

Here are the three things I ordered that day.
- Decaf flat white
- Crimson Punch tea
- Ex-boyfriend toast
How do the decaf flat white and Crimson Punch tea taste?

I came after dinner, so I switched my flat white to decaf. True to a flat white, it didn't feel like a milky latte; the coffee flavor was a bit more distinct, finishing smooth with the milk. At a late-night café I always wonder whether to have coffee at all, so I liked that decaf was an option.

Crimson Punch had a lovely red color. It had that tart hibiscus-style flavor with a gentle sweetness, so it felt light and very clean. Since I'd already had a hearty dinner, a refreshing tea suited it well. It also seems fine for people who don't like coffee or avoid caffeine.
What is the ex-boyfriend toast?

Hongrad's ex-boyfriend toast (₩7,000) is warm toasted bread filled with cream cheese, topped with blueberry jam and ice cream. Once you hear the name, it's hard to forget, right? I was curious and ordered it, and it was a much more proper dessert than I expected, haha.

You get the sweet-tart blueberry together with thick, soft cream cheese, so it wasn't just sugary, and the warm bread with cold ice cream was a great combo. I'd said we'd only eat a little dessert since we were full. But there really is a separate stomach for dessert, haha. After one or two bites I kept reaching for more and finished it in no time.... hahaha
I first came looking for a café with a nice mood where we could talk comfortably, and the dessert was so good that it stuck with me. Above all, I loved that the seats are comfy even though the space is so hip.

It didn't feel awkward to chat with a friend for a long time, and it looked fine for spending time alone with a laptop open. There are many photo spots too, and it was fun that the mood shifts a little depending on where you sit.

I thought it's a good Suwon Station café for days when you've eaten at Suwon Station, don't want to part right away, and want to sit and talk a bit longer.

Hongrad Suwon Station Branch: overall verdict
Hip mood + comfy seats + tasty dessert: a café that covers all three!
I like places where you can relax and eat good dessert, more than cafés that only look pretty in photos, so this suited my taste really well!!

I wolfed down the ex-boyfriend toast even while full, so I'd order it again on my next visit.
Hongrad Suwon Station Branch seems especially good for anyone looking for a café after a dinner meetup at Suwon Station, or a place to talk with a friend for a long time.

The hip mood makes it good for dates, and with comfy spots like the sofa seats, it also seems fine for days you just want to relax at a café.
It's open until 11pm and has decaf coffee and tea, so a late-evening visit felt low-pressure. If you're like me and eat dinner and still make room for dessert, try the ex-boyfriend toast too!
If you're looking for a café near Suwon Station with a good mood, comfy seats and dessert all in one, I recommend Hongrad Suwon Station Branch~!
