Why did I switch from my old stand?

I had been using a cheap plastic rabbit-shaped stand. If the desk shook even a little, it would topple over along with my phone, so I almost felt more at ease propping my phone up in front of a tissue box.

How did I attach it to a phone that isn't an iPhone?

Since I don't use an iPhone, I was worried about compatibility before buying it. The product details said Samsung phones could use it too, so I ordered it, thinking I would give it to my kids if it didn't fit my phone.

The stand felt substantial when I took it out of the box. At first, though, I was confused about which side I was supposed to attach the phone to.

I mistook the bottom for the attachment surface and kept trying to stick my phone to it. When it didn't work, I folded the stand to put it back in the box—and then realized I had been holding it upside down.

At 13 cm in total, it was a little longer than a ballpoint pen.

Once I had the orientation right, I tried attaching the round magnet. After sticking it on once, it would not come off easily, and I had a hard time removing it.

There were two round magnets in the box. I attached one to the back of my phone case and the other to my child's phone. I only use the stand while working; my teenage child is the main user.

Was it stable while touching the screen or changing the angle?

The body had a reassuring weight to it, which made it feel stable. Even when I touched the screen, it didn't wobble or lift up and kept its balance well. The middle joint also felt sturdy, and it never seemed to loosen while I bent it back and forth to set the angle.

Because it is made of metal, I worried the finish might be rough. But when I actually touched it, the edges were rounded and smoothly finished.

Was switching between landscape and portrait and rotating it easy?

The part connected to the base rotates, rather than the magnetic surface itself. It was easy to switch from landscape to portrait, and it did not wobble when I turned it. The base has a non-slip finish, so it did not slide even during rotation.

A wrench was included too. I think it was provided for tightening the joint if it becomes loose.

How strong was the magnet, and what was disappointing?

The phone with the magnet attached held on well and did not slide. This was my first magnetic stand, so I can't compare it with other products, but the magnetic force felt quite strong to me.

I wished there had been a few more round adhesive magnets. I wanted to try attaching one to an iPad too, although I didn't actually use it that way. I also wondered whether a longer neck would be better—and whether it would still avoid tipping over.
