Gwanghwamun bakery café menu and prices after Mijin soba: Lemangdoré
In short
Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun is a three-floor bakery café on Mugyo-ro in Jung-gu, Seoul, between City Hall Station and Cheonggyecheon, and the second branch of Lemangdoré, which started in Seorae Village. After cold soba (naengsoba) at Gwanghwamun Mijin, the writer stopped at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun for dessert and coffee and went through the bean options, prices for drinks, breads, baked goods and sandwiches, and the 3rd-floor Fritz Hansen lounge. Verdict: thanks to its pastry quality and good non-coffee and decaf choices, Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun is a great spot for a solo daytime coffee.

What kind of café is Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun?

Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun (레망도레 광화문점) is a dessert bakery café between Cheonggyecheon and City Hall, and the second branch of Lemangdoré, long loved in Seorae Village. I did the open-run at Gwanghwamun Mijin and ate what is probably my last naengsoba (cold soba noodles) of the year, then came here for dessert and a caffeine refill!
It opened near my home in Gwanghwamun and I kept saying I'd visit, and only now did I make it ;; haha. I'd walked past it plenty of times, but the inside is way prettier than I expected! So much mood!!

What can you buy as a gift at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun?
Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun also sells coffee beans, drip bags, cold brew concentrate and even socks. The madeleine and financier sets are famous as gifts, but I think pairing them with this kind of merchandise would make a great present too!

Lemangdoré is French for LES MAINS DORÉES, meaning "golden hands". Apparently it means the craftspeople who make the bread and coffee with precious hands want to share an experience of equal value with everyone who visits!

What are the seating and floor-by-floor vibes at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun?
Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun spans three floors, with outlet seats for laptop work and large tables for groups. Sitting between City Hall and Cheonggyecheon, it's a place office workers, friends, families, couples and tourists all drop by comfortably, and each floor had a different mood!
The 3rd floor is the Fritz Hansen Lounge, run together with the world-famous Danish furniture brand Fritz Hansen, and it can be used for meetings, community gatherings and even group rentals. They apparently hold cultural events there every month~ It was a lovely atmosphere for lazily listening to music or reading during the day!

Can you buy Lemangdoré baked-goods gift boxes online?
Yes, the Lemangdoré baked-goods gift boxes can also be ordered on the website (lesmainsdorees.kr). They're said to be steadily popular as thank-you gifts for art museums, global brands, big corporate events, weddings and other celebrations!
It brought back memories of the first time I tried them, when my niece gave me a box, haha. Coming today, I found that it's not just the baked sweets: the meal breads and dessert pastries are of quite high quality too!
What are the popular breads at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun?
I heard Lemangdoré's longest-running, most consistent bestseller is the pistachio croissant, but when I looked at the shelves the original croissant was sold out! Pastries must be especially popular~ See the vanilla beans visible in the cross-section of the tart? It's a total killer with coffee haha.

Is the coffee at Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun worth trying?
At Lemangdoré Gwanghwamun you can experience single-origin specialty coffee in many forms, and there's even coffee tasting at the entrance! Besides hand drip, espresso and various coffee variations, many people can't drink coffee these days, so I was really impressed that the decaf coffee and non-coffee drinks are also curated in a varied, high-quality way ;)
The atmosphere, coffee and bakery menu all hit my taste exactly, so I think I'll be coming often! Highly recommended for people having coffee alone in the daytime!
