Why did I use a windshield oil film remover?
I washed the exterior often, but I tended to neglect glass care. Even after a wash, the windshield could look hazy, and on rainy days it felt as though the water was not wiped away cleanly even after the wipers passed over it. I also noticed glare in sunlight and while driving at night, so I tried AutoGrooming CleanView windshield oil film remover.
The windshield is always in front of me when I drive, so I felt it needed to be kept clean. This time, I also cleaned the glass surface that I had put off compared with interior cleaning or washing the outside.
Does it come with a dedicated towel?
The set I received included the oil film remover and a dedicated towel. It was convenient because I did not have to choose or prepare a separate towel suited to the product.
With oil film removal products I had used before, I felt burdened by the idea that I would need to rub hard for a long time. This time, I simply wiped gently with the dedicated towel, so it did not take much force and the job felt quick.
What order did I use it in?
First, while the glass was still thoroughly wet, I sprayed the solution evenly over it. I sprayed generously so that no part of the glass was missed.
Next, I gently rubbed the broad surface with the dedicated towel. At first the surface felt slippery, but that feeling lessened after a few wipes. The round patches of grime and oily film diminished, and the solution seemed to cling to the glass, making me feel that the oil film was being cleared away.
Lastly, I rinsed it thoroughly with clean water. Once the glass had dried, it looked clearer and more transparent than before. I was pleased that the stifling, hazy feeling that remained even after washing the car had eased.
How many times can one bottle be used?
I thought it offered good value because one bottle can be used about 3–4 times or more. Rather than being a one-use product, it seemed useful for repeated glass care whenever I wash the car.
Was getting it on the rubber molding a concern?
When using an oil film remover, I worried about it getting on the rubber molding and causing whitening. The product description says it is designed to reduce that concern, so I worked with relatively more peace of mind.
How did visibility feel on a rainy day?
The biggest difference I noticed after using it was when driving in the rain. Before, even where the wipers had passed there was a feeling of smearing, but after removing the oil film, the glass looked cleaner and visibility felt much more comfortable.
I also found it practical that it can be used on bathroom shower-booth glass as well as car glass.
After using it myself, the process of spraying, wiping, and rinsing was not complicated. With the dedicated towel included too, it was nice for finishing glass care after a self-service car wash.
For me, someone whose windshield still had marks after using the wipers and whose rainy-day view felt hazy, this was an experience that showed the difference glass care can make. I plan to keep using it when I wash the car.
