Juchon, Gimhae gamjatang restaurant open 6am for breakfast: Ppyeodae

In short

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) and haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant in Juchon-myeon, Gimhae, open daily from 6am to 9pm. Before a trip to Costco Gimhae, the writer had the small gamjatang with extra ugeoji (dried napa cabbage leaves), unlimited ramen noodles from the self-serve bar and a 2,000 won sotbap (hot pot rice) finished with sungnyung (scorched rice tea). Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch is worth remembering on a day that calls for an early breakfast and free parking right outside.

At Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk near Costco Gimhae, we added ugeoji to the small gamjatang and threw in ramen noodles too — it made for a seriously filling breakfast.

We figured that once we got to Costco, browsing and shopping would push mealtime into an awkward window, so we decided to eat breakfast first that day. Ppyeodae Itneun Gamjatang Juchon Branch in Juchon, Gimhae opens at 6am, which made it a great pick for breakfast. We thought about each getting our own bowl of haejangguk, but ended up ordering gamjatang instead, since it's meant to be shared.

Where do you park in Juchon?

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Juchon Branch has parking space right in front of the restaurant, so we parked there before heading in. Since we were stopping by before Costco, whether parking was available mattered a lot — and on the day we visited, the space in front of the store was open for us.

Inside the restaurant and the self-serve bar

Stepping inside, we found a dining area with wood-toned tables. Since the place serves breakfast and there are offices nearby, there was seating for two or larger groups, along with rooms for bigger parties too.

On one side was a self-serve bar. Along with the basic side dishes like kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), onion and chili, you could grab more from the self-serve bar if you ran out. Ramen noodles were also available unlimited.

Menu listing haejangguk and gamjatang

Small gamjatang with extra ugeoji

The menu had single-serving dishes like bone-in haejangguk, boneless haejangguk, sundae ugeoji haejangguk (blood sausage with dried napa cabbage), and hwangtae haejangguk (dried pollack soup). Gamjatang could be ordered by party size, and the 2-person portion was ₩35,000.

We went with the small gamjatang and added ugeoji. Once the pot was set on the burner at our table, it really felt like a proper feast for breakfast.

Adding ugeoji gave us plenty to scoop up along with the meat. Sharing the small gamjatang between the two of us, we never felt short on food. Since it was morning, we could have gone with haejangguk instead, but ordering gamjatang to share meant we got to split the ugeoji and add ramen noodles together.

After working through most of the gamjatang, we added one portion of ramen noodles from the self-serve bar. Adding ramen to the simmering gamjatang broth made the breakfast even more substantial. You can add multiple portions of ramen noodles, but if you're eating for two, it's worth checking how much gamjatang and ugeoji is left before adding more. One portion was just right for us.

Finishing with 2,000 won sotbap and sungnyung

We paired the meal with a ₩2,000 sotbap. Having the hot sotbap alongside the gamjatang was a nice touch, and after the meal we got to enjoy sungnyung too. Even after the gamjatang and the ramen noodles, finishing with warm sungnyung at the end felt really satisfying.

What was meant to be a light breakfast before Costco turned into a pretty hearty meal — small gamjatang with added ugeoji, ramen noodles, sotbap, and sungnyung to finish. If you're looking for Gimhae Juchon restaurants and need somewhere to eat early in the morning, keep in mind that this place opens at 6am and had parking available right in front on the day we visited.

Tips for an early breakfast before Costco Gimhae

Adding ugeoji to the gamjatang made for a pretty generous portion even for two people. The self-serve bar offers unlimited ramen noodles and you can add sotbap too, so if you're planning to have both the ramen noodles and the sotbap, it might be better to try the gamjatang first and see how much you need before adding ugeoji, rather than adding it right from the start.
