Hagik-dong café in Incheon: millstone matcha before gayageum, Tiny Dot
In short
Tiny Dot is a large roastery café on floors 1–4 at the entrance of Juan Hansin Apartments in Hagik-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon. Before a gayageum lesson, the writer stopped at Tiny Dot for a millstone matcha latte, a Deulkkae Dot (perilla seed signature drink), salt bread and an Earl Grey scone, and watched the millstone grinding the matcha. Verdict: Tiny Dot gets both the taste and the atmosphere right, a Hagik-dong café worth making your regular hideout.

Daisy Progi's latest café outing is Tiny Dot (타이니닷), a café in Hagik-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon.

Why Tiny Dot for a break before a gayageum lesson in Juan?
Search for a good-vibe coffee spot in Juan, Michuhol-gu, Hagik-dong and Tiny Dot keeps getting recommended. On the day this hobby-addict Daisy Progi went to Incheon Juan to learn the gayageum (traditional Korean zither), I arrived a bit before my lesson and looked for a nearby café to rest in. I picked Tiny Dot without hesitation, and yes, collective wisdom wins again!!
Tiny Dot in Hagik-dong has it all, taste and mood! A café I'd want as my hideout, one I'd like to keep to myself!

Tiny Dot in Michuhol-gu's Hagik-dong is a pretty big café that uses the building from the 1st to the 4th floor. It was fun to see how the mood changes a little on each floor.
Is parking easy at Tiny Dot?
Yes, parking is easy at Tiny Dot. There are spaces in front of, beside and behind the building. Especially, there's a Tiny Dot-only lot at the back, so there's usually plenty of room. Good to know if you're coming by car.
A Hagik-dong roastery café that roasts its own beans

The ordering counter is on the 1st floor, and behind it is the space where they roast their own beans. The showcase held a nice variety of homemade desserts too, like salt bread, scones and cakes.

The first thing that caught my eye was the variety of beans and coffee equipment. Tiny Dot is a roastery café that roasts its own coffee and handles many kinds of beans.

There were beans from different origins, like Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Kenya AA and Colombia Supremo, and the packaging even had the roasting date printed on it, which I think coffee lovers will find quite appealing.

As a roastery café, Tiny Dot in Hagik-dong has a really rich coffee menu. From hand drip coffee to Tiny Dot's own unusual signature drinks, there's plenty to choose from, and non-coffee options like house-simmered jujube tea and ades are well covered too.

Is Tiny Dot's millstone matcha latte really ground with a millstone?
What I ordered at Tiny Dot that day were the millstone matcha latte and Deulkkae Dot (perilla dot), plus salt bread and a scone to go with them. The one I was most curious about from the name alone was the millstone matcha latte.

Tiny Dot's millstone matcha latte is made by grinding matcha from Hadong with a millstone. They had already ground the matcha, but since I was so curious, they showed me the millstone turning. It was such a fascinating moment. A millstone in a café!!

Millstone matcha latte at Tiny Dot
The deep green at the bottom of the cup catches your eye right away. Mix it well and you get matcha's signature aroma blended with soft milk. It's Hadong matcha, so you can drink it with even more trust!
Deulkkae Dot, Tiny Dot's perilla seed signature drink
Deulkkae Dot is Tiny Dot's signature drink: strong coffee topped with plenty of nutty perilla cream. The first sip is soft cream, then the strong coffee follows. The nutty perilla flavor reminded me somehow of injeolmi (rice cake coated in roasted grain powder). Perilla and coffee sounds like an odd pair, but it works surprisingly well. It suited my taste perfectly.

Salt bread and Earl Grey scone: enough of a snack before a lesson?
It was snack time, so I couldn't skip dessert.

Tiny Dot's salt bread is made with French gourmet butter, and they sliced it for easy eating. I was lucky to grab the very last one!
I also picked an Earl Grey scone, one of my usual favorites. One bite and you get a subtle Earl Grey aroma and rich buttery flavor, a classy taste. With the salt bread and Earl Grey scone, it was plenty to fill my stomach before the lesson.
How Tiny Dot's space changes on every floor
Shall we look around Tiny Dot's pretty spaces together? I stayed on the 2nd floor. Each seat was so distinctive and pretty that I deliberated for a moment over where to sit.
My choice! This spot, where white walls, a dark blue sofa, big-leafed plants and dome lights come together stylishly!
Green plants and vintage-feel chairs. Coffee tools and teacups are displayed naturally, and I loved the overall interior.

The 2nd floor in particular gets lovely afternoon sun through the windows, making it a great place for photos. Café photo-hunting fans must visit Tiny Dot.
3rd floor: window seats for laptop work
Let's look around the 3rd floor too. Go up the stairs and there's another space, with quite a lot of seats. A customer was deeply focused on work at their laptop, so I quietly took photos and left. Isn't a window seat with a laptop just perfect?
4th floor: available by reservation
Tiny Dot's 4th floor is used by reservation, so the door was locked that day. Sadly, I could only take photos from outside. There's also a space for groups, so it seems a good café for visiting with several people.
Another plus for Tiny Dot is that the mood and seating differ on each floor, giving you a wide choice of spaces. It's truly a Juan large café that uses multiple floors.

I meant to drink one quick coffee and leave, but there was more to see than I expected, so I ended up exploring floor by floor at this big Juan café, Tiny Dot.

I dropped in briefly before my gayageum lesson, had tasty coffee and a millstone matcha latte, soaked up some sun, and had a good rest.
I was so happy to love a café I found by chance through a search. I'll probably stop by again next time. A café I want as my hideout, a café I want to keep to myself: that was Tiny Dot in Hagik-dong.
Tiny Dot drip bags: how they taste at home

I was curious about the beans at roastery café Tiny Dot, so I bought a few drip bag coffees. Brewed at home, the aroma was rich and the taste was excellent. You can go trusting Daisy Progi's review.
