Spicy baby octopus spot at Sangbong Station with boiled eggs: Joajukne
In short
Joajukne Jjukkumi (조아죽네쭈꾸미) is a restaurant specializing in stir-fried jjukkumi (baby octopus) in the Sangbong food alley in Jungnang, Seoul. On a weekday evening the writer ordered the Nunchi Jjukkumi set, baby octopus topped with snowflake cheese, which staff cooked all the way through; it was eaten with glass noodles, fritters and boiled eggs, then finished with sungnyung (scorched rice tea). Joajukne Jjukkumi is plenty spicy even without hot green chilies, yet the heat won't punish you the next day, making it worth a visit for anyone who wants that kind of spice.

I was craving spicy baby octopus (jjukkumi) so badly today, so I went to Joajukne Jjukkumi (조아죽네쭈꾸미), a baby octopus spot near Sangbong Station! I ordered the Nunchi Jjukkumi set, which comes with baby octopus plus snowflake cheese. It also comes with sungnyung (scorched rice tea) to finish, so I left properly full. If you love spicy food, pay attention✨

Where is Joajukne Jjukkumi near Sangbong Station?
Joajukne Jjukkumi is a baby octopus restaurant in the Sangbong food alley. It's about a 4-5 minute walk from Sangbong Station Exit 3, so it works for a meal and also for an evening with friends. When you want something spicy, I don't think anything wakes up your appetite like baby octopus.

A weekday evening is quieter than the weekend, which I liked. The Sangbong food alley is always bustling, right? So many good restaurants have opened in the last few years, and I love it🤤

Outdoor seats and back terrace at Joajukne Jjukkumi
At Joajukne Jjukkumi you can eat outside with that street-pub (yajang) feel. If you come to the Sangbong food alley on a Friday or weekend, grab an outdoor table early. The exterior is tidy and the interior is really pretty too.

Lunch special prices: baby octopus bibimbap from ₩8,900
The lunch special at Joajukne Jjukkumi runs 11:00-14:00. Jjubibim-bap (baby octopus bibimbap) is ₩8,900 and Jjusam bibim-bap (baby octopus and pork belly bibimbap) is ₩9,900. The prices are great, so definitely try it for lunch!!

The restaurant had awards on display: a 2026 food service grand prize and a 2026 Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation excellence award. You can tell how serious the owner is about the food.
A screen is projected on the inside wall, so it would be nice to come when there's a football match. Eating while watching on a big screen would probably make it taste even better.

The back is set up like a terrace with a classic old-school (nopo) vibe, which made for a different way to enjoy the meal.

How spicy is the baby octopus at Joajukne Jjukkumi?
The sauce at Joajukne Jjukkumi is made with 26 ingredients, and the point is a clean, healthy heat rather than a harsh one, they say. By my standards it was plenty spicy even without extra chili peppers (ttaengcho)🌶️, so only spice masters will need them. If you want it hotter, just add the chili peppers sitting at the corner of the table. Tongs and scissors are on the table too.

Side dishes and a generous serving of flying fish roe
The basic sides at Joajukne Jjukkumi are ssam vegetables, pickled radish wraps, bean sprout soup, flying fish roe and mayonnaise. Usually the roe runs out halfway and you have to order more, but here they give you a lot, so I never ran short. Extra sides are easy to grab yourself at the self-serve bar.

Nunchi Jjukkumi set: what's in it and how it tastes
The Nunchi Jjukkumi set arrives with mushrooms, bean sprouts and shredded green onion piled like a mountain on top of plump baby octopus. It looks so appetizing.

The baby octopus was honestly so good, and I fell for that bouncy texture. They clearly use plump, quality octopus👍🏻 Add Joajukne's spicy sauce and your appetite suddenly comes alive!!! The stress I got today flew away the moment I ate it💸
Staff cook everything from start to finish, so all I had to do was eat, which was so comfortable.

Why the set comes with boiled eggs
The add-ons in the Nunchi Jjukkumi set are glass noodles, fritters and boiled eggs. At first I wondered why there were boiled eggs, but as the heat kept building, my hand kept reaching for the eggs. It's uniquely spicy yet not hard on me the next day, so it was a good way to enjoy the heat.

Joajukne Jjukkumi offers everything from baby octopus stir-fry to jjusam, so it's a great place when you want a spicy meal. The Nunchi Jjukkumi set lets you enjoy baby octopus with stretchy cheese. Chewy octopus meets rich cheese, so it's spicy and savory.

Ending spicy baby octopus with sungnyung (scorched rice tea)
At Joajukne Jjukkumi, finish the spicy baby octopus with sungnyung (scorched rice tea)!!

When you eat spicy food your mouth can go numb, and a warm, nutty sungnyung makes a different kind of pairing. The savory, mild sungnyung contrasts with the spicy octopus sauce, so they go well together. Enjoying that toasty flavor between the intense bites rounded the meal off nicely. If you usually like spicy food, I think you should try the spicy octopus and sungnyung combo at least once.

Baby octopus wraps with fish roe and mayo
Baby octopus is good on its own, but wrapped it has another charm, right? Add ssam vegetables, fish roe and mayonnaise sauce, and the spicy sauce and fresh vegetables come together for an even better bite.
