Uijeongbu café with dogs allowed indoors and matcha Basque: Forerest
In short
Forerest is a large nature café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, where dogs are welcome indoors, and its signature menu is four kinds of Basque cheesecake. On a weekend at opening time, the writer and her dog Ringa had a Jeju green tea latte, an iced americano, and the plain and matcha Basque cheesecakes: the plain one was moist, the matcha one denser and fudgier. For a cool indoor dessert stop with your dog on a hot summer day, Forerest is a great fit.

Forerest in Uijeongbu: a café where your dog can come inside too
Forerest is a nature café at 181 Nogyang-ro, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open daily from 11:00 to 24:00, has parking, and lets dogs in indoors. Since pets are welcome, I came all the way to Uijeongbu on purpose.

Forerest looks like a converted house surrounded by wide lawns. Since it was a weekend and I worried it would be packed, I arrived right at the 11:00 opening and walked in with plenty of room. (By around 12:30 it got really crowded!)

The whole area behind the café is open ground, so the parking space is fairly large.
Forerest's outdoor terrace: how is it with a dog?
The outdoor terrace at Forerest is huge, great for dogs to roam, and maybe that's why so many guests with dogs picked seats outside. But it's next to the grass and bushes, so there are lots of bugs haha

Still, the seating is roomy, and spending time at an outdoor table in the fresh air with your dog looked so nice.

A view that fits the café name "Forerest" so well 😭

Forerest's indoor space and floor-to-ceiling window view
Strangely, the inside of Forerest is much bigger than it looks from outside, full of pretty, moody spaces. There are seats everywhere, and the green view through the floor-to-ceiling windows is pure healing.
It has a strongly nature-friendly feel, and even though it sits further back than you'd expect, plenty of people come.

As a dog owner, what I loved most about Forerest is that dogs are comfortably welcome indoors too! There are lots of photo spots as well, so you can come away with tons of pretty pictures.

Forerest's four cheesecakes and menu prices
Forerest's signature desserts are four Basque cheesecakes and a variety of drinks. The Basque cheesecakes (bachike in Korean) are made in-house and aged in the fridge for 16 hours: Basque, chocolate, black sesame and green tea. They're all gluten-free, so year-round dieters like me can enjoy them without worry.
- Iced americano ₩5,500
- Jeju green tea latte ₩6,800
- Basque cheesecake ₩7,500
- Matcha Basque cheesecake ₩8,000
- Total ₩27,800

Loads of cheesecakes aging in bulk haha

I wanted to try all four kinds, and it was so hard to decide that after picking green tea I asked which one is most popular, lol. Apparently the plain Basque cheesecake is the favorite for the most people.

Aww, my cutie Ringa. I'm so happy we can be together comfortably. I hope more places that allow dogs indoors keep opening 😥
How does the plain Basque cheesecake (₩7,500) taste?

Forerest's plain Basque cheesecake is super moist and sweet, a perfect dessert pick! Being gluten-free, it's easy to eat freely without worry, and even though it's chilled from the fridge aging, it isn't hard, so the texture is great. It goes perfectly with an americano!!
How does the matcha Basque cheesecake (₩8,000) taste?

Forerest's matcha Basque cheesecake suited my taste better. It's a bit denser and fudgier than the plain one, packed with matcha aroma, and I loved it. It's thick, so the portion felt quite generous too.
If you come to Forerest.. you should really have at least two Basque cheesecakes. I'm so curious about the chocolate and black sesame ones too!!!

Why I recommend Forerest in Uijeongbu in summer with a dog
At Forerest, all the spaces, background props and furniture are moody and blend together well, so you'll get loads of pretty photos wherever you shoot. Being there with my dog made it an even more memorable time 😭 I had a happy time with Ringa!
Honestly, it's not easy to find places that allow dogs these days, and most only allow them outdoors, which can be too much when the weather hovers around 30°C. Forerest allows dogs inside, so you can spend time indoors comfortably and coolly, which I loved~~!
If you're looking for a healing café with your dog, tasty desserts, a cool space and even a walk, Forerest in Uijeongbu is a total recommend!
