Hyeonpung, Daegu galbi restaurant with a staff grill zone: Galbijeong

In short

Galbijeong (현풍 갈비정) is a pork galbi and udae galbi (thick-cut beef short rib) restaurant on the 2nd floor of Central Tower in Hyeonpung Technopolis, Yuga-eup, Dalseong, Daegu, where staff grill the meat for you. On the way home from a drive, the writer and her mom ordered galbi for 3 at Galbijeong. The staff grilled it to the end so they could focus on talking, and the yukjeon (pan-fried meat) side dish and spicy doenjang stew were just as satisfying. Galbijeong is a good pick in Hyeonpung when you want galbi without doing the grilling.

Galbijeong, our stop after a drive

Galbijeong is a galbi (marinated ribs) restaurant on the 2nd floor of Central Tower in Hyeonpung Technopolis, and the staff grill the meat for you. I stopped by on the way home from a drive. After all that fun driving I was hungry and craving meat, so I headed to a galbi place that would really fill me up ><

When you're hungry and worn out, a place that grills for you is simply the best. It's perfect for when galbi is on your mind!! And parking is available, so very good!!

What are Galbijeong's hours and facilities?

Galbijeong is open every day of the year from 11:30 to 22:30, with last order at 21:50. Break time is 14:30-16:30 on weekdays, and there is no break time on weekends and public holidays.

  • Address: 110 Tekeunosangeop-ro, Yuga-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu, 2nd floor (Hyeonpung Technopolis Central Tower, 2nd floor)
  • Reservations and group seating available; Naver reservation or phone
  • Kids' playroom
  • Separate men's and women's restrooms, waiting area
  • Takeout, Wi-Fi, parking, corkage allowed

It's a popular spot in Hyeonpung Technopolis for pork galbi and udae galbi (thick-cut beef short rib) and for family meals, and you don't have to bother with grilling because the staff do it.

Where do you park at Galbijeong?

Park in the tower parking lot of Central Tower, then go up to the 2nd floor. I was really hungry after the drive, and the parking support was generous and the lot was big, which was nice. Knowing they'd grill the galbi for us made me look forward to it even more, haha

The convenience of a tower parking lot~ Park and head up to the 2nd floor, let's go!

Was there a wait at dinner time?

When we arrived at Galbijeong the place was packed, but we got in right away with no wait. I'd made a Naver reservation before going ><

It was dinner time, so it was almost full and lively, as a galbi hotspot should be, starting right from the entrance.

Galbijeong grills the meat for you, so you can focus on time with your family haha. Galbi is even harder to grill than pork belly, so I was really grateful they did it for us.

Staff grill zone and self-grill zone are separate

Galbijeong splits its seating into a staff grill zone and a self-grill zone, and it seemed you can even wait separately for each. I thought that was neat. You can also have coffee after your meal!!

The seating is really spacious too. With a playroom, there were lots of families and the place was full of the sound of kids playing, haha. The seats let you lean back, so it was comfy, no question.

A place with a playroom is an absolute must for anyone with kids, haha. Such a great service!

What did we order at Galbijeong?

At Galbijeong we ordered galbi for 3. It's a galbi place, but they have other meats too, from pork belly to pork neck haha. We hadn't had galbi in ages, so galbi it was!!

Here's the menu! A place with fresh ingredients, tasty grilling and sincerely made side dishes. There's even Wi-Fi haha

The fire comes first.. I was about to faint from hunger

Galbijeong has so many staff that there was zero worry about waiting while the meat grilled. Flavor matters, but how well it's grilled matters just as much, and they grill it really well. They also looked after us carefully throughout the meal, which I appreciated!!!

The yukjeon side dish is delicious

Among the side dishes that came out first at Galbijeong, the yukjeon (thin beef patties pan-fried in egg batter) was really good, lol. I almost ordered more but held back,, it makes you want rice.

What was good about having the galbi grilled for us?

The galbi for 3 came out soon after, and a Galbijeong staff member grilled it right away haha. Galbi takes more work than you'd think: you have to control the heat and keep flipping it so it doesn't burn, so there's even more to watch than with pork belly ㅠㅠ

Galbijeong grills the meat deliciously, so you can focus on talking with your family without worrying about burnt meat~~

Galbi grilled so well it tastes even better!

It really recharges your energy as you eat. I was wiped out after the drive, and the galbi melted away in one bite haha. On days you crave galbi you skip the effort of grilling yourself, and I figured I'd definitely come back next time I drive out and have business in Hyeonpung haha

Golden brown and grilled so nicely, right??

Galbijeong spicy doenjang stew and rice

How is Galbijeong's doenjang stew?

Galbijeong's doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) has an excellent spicy kick. It's a little hot, but it's exactly my taste, so it was so good ㅠㅠ

After the meal, a spicy doenjang stew too! For finishing a meal you absolutely need rice and doenjang, and I can never give up the combo of meat and doenjang stew,,

Wraps and vegetables are at the self-serve bar

Galbijeong has plenty of ssam (leaf wrap) vegetables at the self-serve bar, so you can take what you like haha. There were lots of the wrap greens my mom loves, so she wrapped to her heart's content, truly haha

Is Galbijeong worth going back to?

After a hearty galbi meal with rice and doenjang, the hunger vanished and it was a satisfying dinner!! I went for galbi and the stew suited my taste too, so I was thrilled haha. Galbi is love, whenever you eat it,,

It's good with kids, the parking is generous, the staff service is great, and there's even coffee after the meal: Galbijeong is a galbi spot has it all!! If you're looking for a Hyeonpung restaurant, and especially if you're a galbi lover, you should go.

I plan to return next time galbi crosses my mind. When you want a hearty galbi meal, it's Galbijeong in Hyeonpung!!! I want to eat there again right after leaving, and I've been thinking about it since this morning,, the conclusion is always meat = love!
