Hoejangnimdaek Nowon branch (회장님댁 노원점) is a retro-style Korean pub on the second floor of a building tucked inside the Nowon Station food alley in Seoul. The writer went to Hoejangnimdaek for a second round with friends and enjoyed the free shrimp chips and jjondeugi (chewy dried snack), stir-fried chicken gizzards, and complimentary frozen Homerunball cookies, and especially liked the spacious room, chandelier lighting and window seats. If you want a pub with atmosphere in Nowon, Hoejangnimdaek Nowon branch is a satisfying choice, even for a second round.

V-Lab Konkuk (B.LAB) is an unlimited cocktail bar on the 2nd floor of a building in the Konkuk Univ. Station restaurant alley in Gwangjin, Seoul, where ₩18,000 per person covers all the cocktails you can drink. The blogger went with her husband and a friend, drank cocktails and flaming hwaju (fire shots) in a chandelier-lit, lounge-style room, and played darts, claw machines and board games at V-Lab Konkuk. For a long, budget-friendly night out near Konkuk Univ., V-Lab Konkuk is worth it, especially if you bring takeout snacks to save on food.

Hero Board Game Cafe Nowon Branch is a board game café two minutes on foot from Exit 9 of Nowon Station in Seoul. Seating comes as floor seats, table seats, or private group rooms, and this visit meant popcorn, a condensed milk latte, and the café's signature coffee alongside the Unlock escape-room card game (season 8) and a takoyaki-making game. It is an easy indoor date course in Nowon on a day too hot to walk around outside.

Waltz and Dr. Mahn is a large café and coffee museum right by the Bukhan River in Namyangju, Gyeonggi. The visit covered the Coffee Float Volcano made with Kahlua liqueur and chocolate ice cream, the fruit-and-ice-cream Honor and Chevalier drink, the signature Opera Cake, and a stroll along the riverside path. With its elegant, old-world atmosphere, it's a great Namyangju café for an anniversary or drive date.

Staff-grilled hanwoo gopchang and makchang in Byeollae: Chodaechang

Chodaechang Byeollae is a gopchang restaurant near Byeolbit Village in Namyangju. I tried grilled Korean beef intestines, makchang, and doenjang sulbap, with staff grilling everything over charcoal. The spacious, tidy dining room and effective ventilation made the meal comfortable, and I especially liked the beef intestines’ savory flavor and smoky aroma.
