Nowon pub for a second round with chicken gizzards: Hoejangnimdaek

My friends and I decided to have drinks in Nowon, so we went to Hoejangnimdaek (회장님댁) Nowon branch! Doesn't the name alone make you laugh, haha. It has a unique vibe and a huge variety of snacks, and they're so good that the drinks just go down easily! It's in the Nowon food alley, so it's easy to get to. This is my story about this Nowon pub ❤️

Where is Hoejangnimdaek Nowon branch?

Hoejangnimdaek Nowon branch is inside the Nowon Station food alley, on the second floor of a building! The green sign stands out, so you'll spot it quickly. The sign already has an old-school feel that fits today's retro trend, right?

What are the interior and seating like?

Hoejangnimdaek Nowon branch is a retro-style pub with generously spaced tables, mother-of-pearl cabinets and chandelier lighting. Many pubs in Nowon pack their tables tightly, but here there's plenty of room, so it never feels stuffy!!

And the mother-of-pearl cabinets are seriously amazing, haha! Giant chandeliers hang all around and give off a soft glow that sets the mood. There are window seats too, and having a drink with the night view outside is such a vibe,, Whenever I drink in Nowon I come here often, and the window seat is my absolute favorite! Haha, I love it so much!!

The menu is huge, right?! I've visited many times and tried all sorts of things, and honestly everything is delicious! It's all better than average, so you can order anything!

What free snacks come out?

When you sit down, you get shrimp chips and jjondeugi (chewy dried snack) as free snacks. These starter snacks matter more than you'd think, right? Jjondeugi, what a clear concept,,,,

The shrimp chips were crispy and I kept reaching for them, and eating jjondeugi for the first time in ages brought back so many memories,,, haha. They're great for nibbling so you're not bored before the drinks arrive, and easy to pick at while chatting!

How is the stir-fried chicken gizzards?

The stir-fried chicken gizzards (닭똥집볶음) at Hoejangnimdaek Nowon branch come on a hot iron plate piled with gizzards, onion, cabbage and chives, and they were chewy and nutty with no gamey smell. It's a perfect drinking snack! The nutty aroma spreads the moment it arrives!

The gizzards weren't tough and kept their chewy texture, with a crunchy bite each time that wasn't too hard, haha. No gamey smell at all and so nutty, I really enjoyed this one! The onion and cabbage seemed quickly stir-fried over high heat, so they were crunchy yet sweet, and they paired nicely with the gizzards!

The seasoning wasn't salty either. Eating it with chives now and then made the aroma richer, and the cabbage cut the greasiness, so I enjoyed it to the end!

Just imagine dipping the gizzards in the sesame oil dip, how good is that? Nutty yet salty, with a chewy texture too, simply perfect.

I wanted to order more, but sadly I came already full,,, Next time I'll come for a first round and feast on more variety of snacks.

Is it good for a second round?

Even though we came for a second round, I was happy with the atmosphere, the snacks and the service. The snacks are so tasty that the drinks go down smoooothly;;;; The staff were kind and the service was good, so we kept drinking happily, haha.

And wait, they gave us Homerunball cookies, salt milk flavor, as a freebie!? The clever part is that they'd been frozen, which made them even tastier;; With service like this, how can I not come back ㅠ

Come out of Nowon Station Exit 1 and head into the alley and you'll find it! It's a short walk, and bus stops and the subway station are close too, which is great!
