Where to get pizza and beer near Bangi Station after Olympic Park: Hope So
Hope So (홉쏘) is a pub near Bangi Station where you can enjoy beer and wood-fired pizza in a quiet atmosphere. I dropped in after a weekend walk in Olympic Park.
The weather has been getting properly warm, and these days I crave a cold draft beer every evening. I went for a casual stroll near Olympic Park on the weekend, and wanted good food and beer in an open, airy setting, so I spent a good while searching around Bangi Station.

Not one of those common, noisy drinking places. I found a proper Olympic Park-area date spot where you can chat in a nice atmosphere over pizza and beer.

Is Hope So a good place for a date?
It isn't a loud, chaotic place. It was a pleasant space that's just right for chatting quietly and taking your time over the food.

Once I settled into a seat on the first floor, I could see right away why this place has a reputation as a nice Olympic Park-area date spot.

What we ordered at Hope So: beer, margherita pizza, beef soy risotto
From the many options, we ordered the margherita pizza, a perfect match for cold beer, and the beef soy risotto (우삼겹간장리조또, made with thinly sliced beef brisket) to fill us up.

The beer came first, and just looking at it made my chest feel lighter. The soft foam and crisp fizz wiped out my post-walk thirst in one go.

How is the Hope So margherita pizza?
The margherita is handmade and baked right in a wood-fired oven. Fresh out of the oven, it looked perfect.

A thin, crispy crust topped generously with fresh tomato sauce, rich mozzarella and fragrant basil. It stays true to the basics while still having deep flavor.

A hot slice with stretchy cheese, then a sip of cold beer, and the day's tiredness just melted away.

Handmade, baked in a wood-fired oven: a genuinely good spot. It was the perfect partner for a casual yet stylish Olympic Park-area date.

Hope So beef soy risotto: is a pub risotto any good?
The beef soy risotto is a soy-based risotto with plenty of thinly sliced beef brisket, and it was the dish that pleasantly surprised me most that day. Just as the pizza had whetted our appetites, the risotto I'd been looking forward to arrived. Honestly, since it's a risotto from a pub, I didn't expect much, but my eyes popped open at the first bite!
The good-quality beef is generous, and its rich meaty flavor fills your mouth, while the sweet-and-salty soy sauce soaks perfectly in between the grains of rice. The salty soy sauce cleanly cuts the richness the beef could otherwise have, so I couldn't put my spoon down.

Its nutty, deep savory flavor made it a surprisingly great snack with beer, too. I chose it instead of the usual pasta, and it was both filling and delicious, so I was really satisfied. The quality of the food made our Olympic Park-area date even more fun.
