On days when you just want a light meal, sometimes only a hot bowl of noodles will do. I went to a hidden Hanam ramen spot in Misa, Menji Hanam Misa Branch!

Turns out they were open even through the holiday. Luckily there was no break time either, so it was an easy visit. They take the tonkatsu just as seriously as the ramen, so it felt like a place that works both for solo dining and a hearty meal out with company.

With ramen, the broth matters, but the broth aside, Menji makes its own noodles, so the texture was clearly different from the start. Honestly one of the best Hanam ramen places I've had in a while.
What comes in the 16,500 won tori paitan ramen and pork loin tonkatsu set?

One of the things we ordered that day was Menji's tori paitan ramen set with handmade pork loin tonkatsu. At ₩16,500 it felt like solid value. The broth was rich and deep, and the noodles had a really chewy, springy bite.

You could see into the kitchen, and everything looked clean and well-handled, so I could eat comfortably.

Even soaked in broth, the noodles kept their bounce instead of going soft, so it was fun lifting them up with chopsticks and slurping away haha.

If noodle texture is important to you in ramen, this one should be pretty satisfying.

The standard char siu, menma (seasoned bamboo shoots), and ajitama (soft-boiled seasoned egg) were all cooked just right too.

There was also a generous amount of chicken breast — sous vide, so it was moist and tender, nutty in flavor and not tough at all. A clean, satisfying tori paitan ramen.

Since the pork loin came alongside, we left even fuller — crispy outside, juicy inside, with a distinctive sauce.

The tonkatsu had no gamey smell, so it was easy to enjoy, and the oil felt clean too — even paired with ramen, which can get heavy, it stayed surprisingly light and filling.
How spicy is the sin tori paitan ramen at Menji?
Menji's sin tori paitan is a spicy ramen made with cheongyang chili. This is what I ordered, and it was way spicier than I expected!!! Haha.

With the cheongyang chili in there, the heat was intense — anyone who likes spicy food should definitely try this one!

It's not artificial heat but the chili's own natural spiciness, so it was clean and the flavor lingered pleasantly.

Adding the pepper and mayu (black garlic oil) set out on each table made it taste even better, with the flavor lasting longer. It really added more range to the dish.

Just ramen makes for a light meal, and adding the tonkatsu set makes it more filling, so there were plenty of combinations to choose from.
Inside Menji Hanam Misa Branch: seating and atmosphere
Menji Hanam Misa Branch isn't a large place — two 4-top tables and about 6 counter seats. I'd assumed it was mainly for solo diners or couples on dates, but surprisingly, a lot of families come in too.

With just two 4-top tables and about 6 counter seats, it's not a big space, yet plenty of people were waiting to get in. The food is good and comes out clean, so this looked like a place with a high repeat-visit rate!

Parking and finding the entrance to Menji Hanam Misa Branch
For parking at Menji Hanam Misa Branch, most people use a nearby paid lot or park in the side streets. We used the lot, and it also seemed like a nice spot to combine with a walk along the riverside park :)

Oh, and one more thing — the entrance is shared with Easy White Bread, but you can just walk in and head over to Menji!
Final verdict on Menji, a Hanam Misa ramen restaurant
House-made noodles that were genuinely delicious, good for everything from solo meals to family dinners out. I've saved this as an easy, tasty Misa ramen spot :)
