I love tacos, and I happened to find out there's a taco place in Mangwon Market. It's Taco Dot Mangwon Market Main Branch (타코닷 망원시장본점)!

There's a great taco spot here?! As someone who's been hanging out in Mangwon for ages, I'm so annoyed that I didn't know about it... haha

How long is the weekday evening wait at Taco Dot Mangwon Market Main Branch?

I visited at 8pm on a weekday and there were about 2 groups waiting. The exterior already gives off a big Mexican vibe, this Mangwon taco spot!

Maybe because it's a taco specialist, the table turnover was fast! And the funny thing is, half the customers were Korean and half were foreigners! If even foreigners come here, it's totally a proven spot, right?!🥹

The inside is small, but there were plenty of tables. I was lucky and got seated right away at a window table.

It's famous around Mangwon, so there were quite a few big groups too. Mangwon's taco hotspot, Taco Dot!

The interior is decorated Mexican-style too, with a very confident personality! I never really got the charm of Mexican style (?) before, but lately it's totally my taste🤣

The self-serve bar has cutlery, small plates, hot sauce and wet wipes, so you can grab what you need for your group size.

Taco Dot menu: what did I order?

What I ordered at Taco Dot was the verde sauce enchilada, a fish taco and a carnitas taco! Honestly I came wanting a platter, but my lunch still hadn't digested, so I decided to keep it light with just tacos and an enchilada🥲

How do the fish taco and carnitas taco taste at Taco Dot?

But it was a very good choice^^ The tacos were so tasty that it was a good choice, I'd say🤭 Well, it's not a Mangwon taco hotspot for nothing!

Fish taco: clean and light with tartar sauce

The crunchy vegetables and the tartar sauce on top made Taco Dot's fish taco feel really fresh and cooling. Clean and not heavy at all!

Carnitas taco: a new menu item, slightly spicy

The menu said "new," so I got curious and ordered the carnitas taco! I wondered what carnitas was, and it's a traditional Mexican pork dish. Tender pork shredded into small pieces came with onion and cilantro. By the way, you can skip the cilantro if you dislike it, but the subtle cilantro scent was so fresh that I liked it better with it in.

I squeezed a little lime on it, took a bite, then dipped it in the sauce too. The crunch of the onion among the soft pork was the GOAT🫶 I didn't expect it to be spicy, but it was a little spicy. Still, the cilantro and lime balanced the heat so I could eat it cleanly.

Red Rock draft beer at Taco Dot

With food like this... beer... can't skip it, right? Taco Dot has Red Rock draft beer, so I ordered right away! Not many places serve Red Rock on draft, and it's the beer that goes best with tacos👏

What is the verde sauce enchilada at Taco Dot?

Taco Dot's verde sauce enchilada comes with a choice of pork or shrimp, and I wanted something fresh, so I went with shrimp. It was my first enchilada; think of it as a Mexican tortilla lasagna (?) or a burrito.

Plump shrimp packed inside the tortilla! When you mix the shrimp and fried rice into the spicy verde sauce, you get the sauce's signature tangy sourness with a spicy aftertaste. The fried rice soaked up the sauce, and eating them together was really delicious!👍

Would I go back to Taco Dot Mangwon Market Main Branch?

Ah, looking at the photos makes me want it again,,, The tangy yet spicy verde sauce was totally my style, so I scraped the plate clean haha Even late on a weekday evening it was full of people, this Mangwon hotspot Taco Dot! Why did I only find a place like this now,,🥹 A Mangwon taco spot I'll definitely revisit, and next time I have to try the platter or the fajitas.
