Seoul Botanic Park café, black interior & matcha latte: Pict Roastery
In short
Pict Roastery Magongnaru Branch is a black-interior roastery café on the 2nd floor of the Castle Park building near Magongnaru Station and Seoul Botanic Park in Gangseo, Seoul. The writer visited around 2 p.m. and sat at a window table with an iced americano, a Kyoto matcha latte (₩7,000) and aged French toast (₩11,900), but the Basque cheesecake and tiramisu had already sold out. Pict Roastery's rich matcha latte and brûlée French toast make it a café worth recommending near Seoul Botanic Park; go early for desserts and eat the French toast as soon as it arrives.

Where is Pict Roastery Magongnaru Branch, and is there parking?
Pict Roastery Magongnaru Branch is a café near Seoul Botanic Park, on the 2nd floor of the Castle Park building at Magongnaru Station, about a 7-minute walk from Exit 2. If you drive, you can park for free in the building's underground garage~

It's open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and please note it's closed every Monday and Tuesday!

What's the black interior like?
The whole shop is decorated in black, so it feels chic and modern. Everyone was quietly enjoying their coffee, so I think it would be a good place to visit alone, and it's a nice spot to relax over a coffee.

The shop is on the small side, but one wall is a full window, so it feels open and not stuffy at all~ I took a table facing the window, haha

Pict Roastery menu and prices
Coffee at Pict Roastery Magongnaru Branch ranges from an ₩4,900 americano to a ₩7,000 coconut affogato.
- Americano ₩4,900
- Café latte ₩5,500
- Vanilla latte ₩6,000
- Cappuccino ₩6,000
- Café mocha ₩6,500
- Black latte ₩6,500
- Coconut affogato ₩7,000
On weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the americano is ₩2,000 off, so it seems perfect for office workers nearby grabbing coffee after lunch, haha. For desserts there were aged French toast, Kyoto matcha Basque cheesecake and pistachio tiramisu.

Monthly drip coffee and buying beans
Pict Roastery serves roaster's selection drip coffee made with new origins and profiles every month, and you can check this month's bean lineup on the bean card in front of the counter. If you're serious about coffee, give it a visit!

You can buy beans too,

and there's a roasting machine at the shop entrance. They keep it inside glass so customers can see the roasting process. If the timing works out, I'd love to watch a roast, haha

Water, syrup, napkins and wet wipes are at the tray return area to the left of the ordering counter, so help yourself if you need any.

Visiting at 2 p.m.: are desserts sold out?
When I got to Pict Roastery Magongnaru Branch around 2 p.m., the Basque cheesecake and tiramisu were sold out. Ta-da~ here's my order: an iced americano, a Kyoto matcha latte and aged French toast. I was curious about the other desserts too, but after lunchtime they were already gone T_T Next time I'll go earlier, haha

Kyoto matcha latte, ₩7,000
The Kyoto matcha latte at Pict Roastery is a ₩7,000 drink made with Uji matcha from Kyoto. The bittersweet, rich matcha flavor was really good! If you like matcha, definitely order it.

Americano, ₩4,900, with nutty chocolate beans
For the americano at Pict Roastery you can choose between nutty chocolate and acidic floral beans, and I went with nutty chocolate. It tasted nutty and clean, and so good. It really seems like a great coffee place, haha

Aged French toast, ₩11,900: eat it as soon as it arrives
The aged French toast at Pict Roastery is a unique ₩11,900 dish: toast aged for 24 hours and topped with crème brûlée. The aged toast was so soft it melted in my mouth, and the brûlée was crisp and sweet. They also poured on plenty of syrup.

Later the bread soaks up the syrup and turns a little soggy, so I recommend eating the aged French toast right when it comes out~
With its chic, modern shop and delicious coffee and desserts, I recommend Pict Roastery Magongnaru Branch as a café near Seoul Botanic Park.
